Sophomores, you are no longer green plebs. As midshipmen, you are striving toward your goal of higher education. The sophomores who aspired to the distinction of class officers were Dora Herrick, chairman; Laura Ellen Smith, Dorothy Jean Wilson, Madelyn Griffin, and Gleason Mahoney. A party consisting of bunco and dancing, an amateur hour presented for general assembly, and meetings on the third Monday of each month have comprised the social class events of the year. Virginia Belyea and Dale Simpson were the successful sophomore candidates in the Student Cabinet election. The athletes of the sophomore class are Jack Pearl, Don North, Gleason Mahoney, Edwin Westray, and Leland Simcox. The outstanding musicians are Dora Herrick, Gleason Mahoney, and Dale Simpson, who won first in the state band solo contest. Herrick and Mahoney also won 2nd division ratings at the National Contest.
