We revere her and defend her, As her colors proudly fly. We will stand for her united; Of her deeds we gladly tell. Her colors streaming, Glad faces beaming, So here’s a cheer for her That we all love so well. Joyous and ever loyal, Let us cheer our dear old High. S DEDICATION HAND PRAISES The Class of 1959 is proud to dedicate this, our 1959 Clintonian, to its distinguished principal, Mr. John G. Karin. Besides guiding us through our first attempts with x's and y's, he has applied himself to preparing us for the prob- lems and obstacles awaiting us in the future. For twenty- five years his keen understanding and guidance and his unique humor have instilled in Clinton Central students a respect that cannot be expressed in words. Your genuine interest and friendliness have given us the pride which we experience in dedicating our yearbook to you, Mr. Karin, on your twenty-fifth year of service to the school and the community. BEVERLY SKILLMAN Mrs. Skillman was with us for less than two short years. Yet, in that time, her quiet, friendly ways became known and liked by the girls taking homemaking courses. She was always ready with a smile and helping hand. Even when she knew she was gravely ill, she faced each day with a smile and bravery. This courage which she displayed is one of the greatest assets of life. Everyone can learn from this, the lesson Mrs. Skillman gave to all at C. C. H. S. WK 0 S . ADVISERS Miss Batley, Adviser; Mrs. Coghill, Miss Dawes, Mr. Wakefield. CLASS HISTORY FRESHMAN YEAR We began our Freshman year by electing Fred Acee as class president, Romey Eisenhut as vice-president, Anne Batson as secretary, and Dick Wenzel as treasurer. Our class launched a magazine sale which started our treasury off with $590.12. The Little Three Council was led by Kathy Karin. Our freshman football team had lots of spirit — didn't win any games — but had SPIRIT. Moonglow was chosen as the theme for our Frosh Frolic. On May 26 we danced to the music of Jimmy Carter's orchestra while Dawn Bell's hoop hung from the ceiling, an important part of the decorations. It had a spotlight in it and was supposed to be the moon, or something. SOPHOMORE YEAR Fred Acee was again elected president, ably assis- ted by Gary Bingham as vice-president, Carole Os- terhout as secretary, and Dick Wenzel as treasurer. We captured first place with our skit in the Winter Carnival. Ed Germond, Stu Allison, and Georgia Philley stole the show with their rendition of the Moonlight Gambler . Then we settled down to work on the Senior-Sophomore Reception. June 7 found the cafeteria full of flowers, food, and people. The Reception was a great success and provided everyone with a good time. This year many brave sophomores were heard to brag about how they had carved up a frog or a Worm in biology class. Unfortunately there were those who just got sick. We had three different teachers in geometry, but most of us got past the Regents by study, prayer, or body english. JUNIOR YEAR Class rings were the first things on our minds and we got busy selecting them. After a flu epi- demic and some terrible weather, the rings finally arrived and we held a party in the cafeteria. Our snow sculpture of the Little King won the first prize in the sculpture contest for the Winter Carn- ival. After much discussion, we decided on Ro- man Holiday” as the theme of our Junior Prom. Committees got busy painting in the cafeteria and looking for a small swimming pool. Debby Doyle was our lovely queen. The dance and the post- prom party were both huge successes. We ended the year by electing Barbara Cote editor-in-chief of the 1959 Clintonian. Stuart Allison headed our class and Ed Acee was our vice-president. Pat Warren was the secre- tary and Carol Kirkup took care of our money. SENIOR YEAR The big year started when we elected Ed Ger- mond president, Ed Acee vice-president, Joyce Blake secretary, and Carol Kirkup treasurer. Sue Donahue was our D.A.R. good citizen, Anne Batson served as president of the Student Council. Stuart Allison was elected president of District Seven Association of Student Councils, and Fred Acee was captain of Clinton’s successful foot- ball team. Seven members of the Class of '59 won New York State Regents Scholarships. We held our advertising campaign for the yearbook; we planned the yearbook; we planned for graduation; and some of us filled out long ap- plication blanks for college. The seniors built the tallest float for Community Day and we won first prize at the Winter Carnival. The chemistry lab was left intact in spite of many efforts by Bill Mor- rison and Art Skoog to blow up something. High School was over for us when we recessed from the auditorium the night of graduation in our caps and gowns — diplomas in hand. ROMAN HOLIDAY COURT — Center: Deborah Doyle, Queen: C. Suppe, C.
