DOUGLAS MOULTON The Class of 1953 dedicates its “Clintonian” to the memory of Sergeant Douglas Moulton, Class of 1947, who died while serving his country in Korea, and to his brother, Roger “Bucky” Moulton, Class of 1951, whose untimely death occurred while a student at St. Lawrence University. As we, members of the Class of 1953, cross the threshold of our school for the last time, the memory of the good will and fellowship of these two brothers will forever remain in the hearts of us all and will live long thereafter in the halls of Clinton High. Thank you, THE SENIORS Thb TrwjJL Ojjj 0 out ulo xa£UM6j FRESHMAN YEAR We began our Freshman year by electing Eric Weber as class president, Dick Gilbert as vice-president, Lois Altmire as secretary and Cathy Sherman as treasurer. Our first money-making act was a bake sale by which we made $27.25. Our sports world was opened up this year with a great freshman football team headed by Joe 0‘Brien as captain. The team was spurred on to victory by the snappy cheering of Sue Hyland, Bev Dawes, Bev Rashford, Lois Altmire, Lee Kaido and Cathy Townsend, cheerleaders. Mary Grunert and Dick Gilbert were among the people chosen to attend the All- State music sectional at Manlius. The governmental body of the Junior High was headed by Eric Weber as president of the Little Three. Our Freshman year ended and we came back three months later to start our eventful Sophomore year. SOPHOMORE YEAR In our Sophomore year the profit-scooping carnival was our big project. From the sideshow to the basket-shooting contest, laughter filled the gym. We made enough money to put on one of the nicest Senior-Sophomore Receptions ever. For entertainment, the seniors put on a dissertation on school days which put everyone in stitches. Eric Weber headed the class again this year with the assistance of John Karin as vice-president, Cathy Sherman as secretary, and Cathy Townsend as treas- urer. Joe O’Brien, Phil Collmer and Jerry Doyle gained positions on the varsity football team and saw quite a bit of action. Phil Collmer and Mike Brewster adjourned the last class meeting to end our Sophomore Year. “School Days” [32] Mr. Seyse and Mr. Bray JUNIOR YEAR The Junior year usually brings to mind two things: class rings and the Junior Prom. We set to work on our rings right away and had them before Christmas. We went to Paris for our prom and presented “An Evening in Paris” with Betsy Fitchard as our queen. Our class was headed by John Karin as president, Joe O'Brien as vice-president, Cathy Sherman as secretary and Cathy Townsend as treasurer. Dick Gilbert attained the presidency of the Senior Student Council this year. At the close of the year we elected our yearbook staff so we could get started early in the September of ’52. The Queen and Her Court SENIOR YEAR The big year started when we elected Joe O’Brien as our president and Phil Collmer as his able assistant. Cathy Sherman and Cathy Townsend retained the offices which they capably filled for the third consecutive year. Dick Gilbert was elected as president of the Student Council. Joe O’Brien again headed the football team as he did as a Freshman but, this time, it was the Varsity. The Maroon and White opened their seven game chart with a 27-12 win over V.V.S. However, heart- breaking losses to Oneida and Cazenovia resulted in injuries to Seniors Joby Burns, John Karin, Charlie Zumbrun, and Mike Brewster, and Sophomores Dean Harrer and Don Foley. The ensuing losing efforts were the effect of the misfortunes. The team, held together by tape and high spirit, managed to hold heavily-favored New Hartford to a 14-6 conquest. The Morganmen climaxed the campaign by trounc- ing the weak Chittenango eleven, 40-0, for a 2-5 sea- sonal record. The stellar play of four-year men, Captain Joe O’Brien, Jerry Doyle, and Phil Collmer, coupled with the efforts of Backs Saied Adour, Dick Kennedy, Eric Weber, and Happy Acee, sparked the team, which displayed never-ceasing high spirit and good sports- manship. The Frosh eleven enjoyed a successful year, cul- minating the season with a 6-2 record. The team was spurred on by Bob Schmidt, Don Gorton, Chuck Rog- ers, and Noel Benoit.
