MEET OUR A.F.S.’ER—MARIA GLORIA de CANATA FIORE She’s five feet four inches tall with dark shoulder length tresses and a smile so contagious . .. why, it’s almost illegal. The daughter of Flavio and Elvira de Canata Fiore, Maria is one of six children. She hails from Asuncion, Paraguay, a city of approximately 250,000. The hearts of our student body have been stolen by this sparkling senorita. Through the halls she floated and we along with her. English 11 and 12, French, American History and typing occupied her academic hours. A wall flower? Certainly not! Maybe we should also note her affinity for chewing gum on the premises?? Maria’s American parents are the Dodsworths of Seneca Castle. Mom, Dad, Ken, Sue and Maria thus become the sixth addition to the A.F.S. family in Clifton Springs. With a love of the outdoors, including swimming and water skiing, Maria anxiously awaited her first snowfall which she unfortunately was unable to retain a souvenir of . . . darn. Maria has a twin sister which is a novelty in that her sister is also an A.F.S.'er. She has been residing in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin this year. Their reunion is a happy anticipation for both. To be a doctor is Maria’s ambition, but we see her as an ambassador in the United Nations if not the Cliftonian ’’cover-girl” for 1968!

Class of '68 PRESIDENT— Fern Liss VICE-PRESIDENT— Daniel Driscoll SECRETARY— Sandra VanRomer TREASURER— Daniel Converse As the Class of ’68 walks out the doors of Clifton Springs High School for the final time, many memorable experiences will go with us ... a storehouse of knowledge, a log of good times, an aura of friendship. We as eager freshmen, sponsored our first record hop. Thus the foundation was laid for our senior trip. A bakesale as sophomores added to the treasury also. Our junior year kept every member on his toes. Refreshments were sold at both football and basketball games along with programs and a last minute endeavor—pompoms. October saw Old London”, our junior prom, come to life through the long unfailing hours of toil that were contributed. Our excitement climbed with the nightly rehearsals of Pillow Talk; when it was labeled a true production”, we were elated and proud. Our first job as seniors was the annual magazine campaign. The $7,000 goal was reached and we were a giant step closer to Washington. With Mr. Banfield again in the director’s spot, we staged our second production, The Mouse That Roared. These profits culminated our fund-raising activities. Washington, D.C. ... At last our goal was attained. Every minute of the trip was worth all our anticipation. Through the years our class has learned to cooperate and to exchange ideas. As we walk out, we clasp the keys of friendship, knowledge, and experience in our hand. 16
