American Field Service Exchange Student This year the Clifton Springs Central School was able to welcome her second foreign exchange student, Rafael Rives-Ferriol, from Valencia, Spain. Rafael devotes his time to studying English III and IV, American History, physics, advanced algebra, principles of mathematics, giving speeches on his native country, and participating in high school activities. In Spain, Rafael previously studied math, chemistry, physics, philosophy, Spanish Literature, religion, French, and the history of art. In expressing his opinion regarding his stay in Clifton Springs, Rafael states: “I like the con-, tact between the student and teacher. It is much less formal than in Spain. I express my gratefulness to the entire student l)ody and especially to the Junior and Senior Classes.” Dr. and Mrs. Stephen Brouwer were Rafael’s host and hostess for his stay in Clifton Springs. 12

Senior Class SEATED: T. Holland—Treasurer, S. Walker—Vice-President. STANDING: J. Loughlin—President, L. Salisbury—Secretary. The class of 1964, in the fall of our Junior year, started money-raising projects to finance our Washington trip. We began by having roller-skating parties. In October we all participated in making our Junior Prom, “Harvest Moon,” a memorable experience. During the winter months we worked at basketball games selling candy, gum, and soft drinks. After some of the games we sponsored record hops which were loads of fun and profitable. Springtime rolled around and we presented our play, “One Foot in Heaven.” The play was a huge success playing to a full house both nights. We all worked hard later in the spring selling subscriptions to an area weekly newspaper. Thus, our Junior year ended on a happy and successful note. Our Senior year started off with a bang with our ambitious magazine campaign. Despite competition from other schools, we exceeded our goal of $6,000. Next the whole class worked to present the Senior play, “Room for One More,” which was very successful. Having reached our goal, our Washington trip w'as assured. All our projects were successful largely because of the help and encouragement of our class advisors and the co-operation of all the members of our class. Thus, we completed four happy years as high school students at Clifton Springs Central School. 13
