MAJOR THOMAS N. GOBEN Major Goben was bom Apnl 14. 1961 in Portsmouth. Virginia, He was commissioned through the Platoon Leader ' s Class (PLC) program, after graduation from the University of Arkansa at Fayetteville in July 1983 with a Bachelor Science Degree in Data Processing. Major Goben graduated from the Basic School at Quantico. Virginia in 1 984 and was ordered to the 1 st Marine Division and assigned to Truck Company. Headquarters Battalion, After graduation fro m the Motor Transport Officer ' s Course, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina in 1984, he returned to the 1st Manne Division and was transferred to the 3rd Battalion, 1 1 th Mannes where he served as Battalion Motor Transport Officer, In 1986 he was transferred to the 3rd Force Support Group. Okinawa. Japan where he served as the Battalion Motor Transport Officer for 9th F,ngineer Support Battalion In 1988, he reported to 2nd Recruit Training Battalion. Manne Corps Recruit Depot. San Diego. California where he served as Series Commander and Company Commander, In 1990 he attended the Amphibious Warfare School at Quantico. Virginia, In 1991 he was assigned to the 1 st Tank Battalion 29 Palms, California where he served as Battalion Motor Transport OlTicer and Battalion Logistics OlTicer, While assigned to 1st Tank Battalion, he deployed to Somalia from December 1992 to March 1993 during Operation Restore Hope where he served as Provisional Riffle Company Commander for Task Forces Mogadishu and Bardera He was then transferred to the 1st Force Service Support t Group in 1994 and served in the current Operations Section, G-3 where he deployed to Saudi Arabia and participated in Operation Vigilant Wamor from October to November 1994, In March 1995, he was promoted to his present rank and assumed his present duties as the Executive OtTicer. MEU Service Support Group 1 1 in February. 1996, Following this assignment, he will attend the Marine Corps Command and Staff College at Quantico. Virginia, His personal awards and decorations include. Navy Commendation Medal with one Gold star, Nav Achievement Medal, Joint Meritonous Unit Award, Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal with one star, Southwest-Asian Service Medal with one star and the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon with one star Major Goben is not mamed 12

VCCM(SW AW) DWAYNE PATRICK USS CLEVELAND (LPD 7) COMMAND MASTER CHIEF Master Chief Patnck enlisted in the Na y in September 1978 in Flint Michigan. After attending recuit training in Great Lakes, he attended Mess Management Specialist A school in San Diego. California.. His first tour of dut ' was at Commander, Submarine Force. U.S. Atlantic Reet. Norfolk. Virginia. In Julv of 1981. he reported to his first sea command. USS .ARKANSAS (CGN 41), followed by USS W.ADDELL (DDG 24) in August 1983 homeported in San Diego were he advanced up through the ranks to Mess Management Speciahst second class. Master Chief Patrick then went on to shore tour at Administrative Command. Naval Training Center. San Diego. Califorina. where he attend the Command Career Counselor course in March 1987 and converted to the Navy Counselor rate in June 1987. His first assianment as a Na y Counselor led him to USS ALAMO (LSD 33) in Juh 1987 where he v selected as Senior Sailor of the vear for ALAMO and . mphibious Squadron Seven. In September 1989 he was promoted to Senior Chief Pettv Officer and decommission the .ALAMO and reported to USS JL TAU (LPD 10) in December 1989. where he partiapated in Operation Desert Shield Storm Master Chief Patricks next tour of dut took him to Naval Command Control and Ocean Research Center. Research development. Test and Evaluation Center. San Diego. California in October 1992. where he was advanced to Senior Chief Pett Officer in April 1993. That tour was followed by a tour at Shore Intermediate Maintenance Acti it . San Diego. CaKfomia in December 1993. He then reported to the Senior Enlisted Academy, Newport, Rhode Island. NCCM Patrick reported to the USS BOXER (LHD 4) in Januar. 1996 and was selected to his present rank of Master Chief Pettv Officer in April 1996. He reported to USS CLEVELAND (LPD 7) in January 1997. His awards include the Navy Achievement Medal with four gold stars. Navy Achievement Medal with one gold star, and vanous awards. He is married to the former Sherrv Scott and has three sons and one daughter. 13
