YO R LIFE Mr. Thomas Halstead grew up in Terre Haute, Indiana. He studied in his native state at Indiana State University. His later training included Washington University, Harris Teachers College, S. E. Mo. State College, and Wisconsin State College. He earned the Masters of Science Degree. He has previously taughtlbusiness education courses at Hadley High School and at O Fallor High School. Mr. Halstead arrived at Cleveland in l960. He originally was a D.E.C.A. Coordinatorg later he became an Office Co-op Cordinator at Cleveland. Mr. Thomas Halstead Mr. Pete Mercurio E DEDICATE Mr. Pete Mercurio has taught for'twenty six years: he has spent most of these years at Cleveland High School. In recent years he has served Cleveland both as the Industrial Arts Department chairman and as Ath- letic Director. His preparation for these positions has been acquired at Miliken University, Bradley University, Wahington University, Harris Tezchers College and at the Junior District College. In the performance of his professional duties he has strengthed the Industrial Arts department aided many of Cleveland's alumni through employment placement, and about two years ago gained national recognition as Industrial Arts Teacher of the Year,

THIS IS Mrs. Walraute Holst was better known at Cleveland as Frau Holstf' She joined the St. Louis school system in l937. Most of these years found her teaching at Blow School. ln l959, she came to Cleveland. Born in Hamburg, Germany she came to St. Louis at a very early age. Beside sponsoring the German Club at Cleveland and her teaching of different courses in the German Language, she also strengthened her department. In order to increase her teaching skills her acdemic studies took place at Harris Teachers College, St. Louis University, the Univer- sity of Iowa, the University ofColorado and at Washington University. One of her last major extracurricular activities at Cleveland was the lead role which she played in the play Harvey. While she may have been known 35 Veta Marie in the play she'll long be remembered by the .Dutchmen as APPRECIATIO Frau Hoist. Mrs. Mehl has served as a Secretary in the Counseling Office for more than ten years. ln proving to be of major assistance to the counselors, teachers, and pupils of Cleveland, her duties have included those of a receptionist, the processing of withdrawn students, checking needed pupil information for the counselors, mailing out failure notices, answering the telephone, performing typing chores for the counselors, and the handling of forms for government surveys, pupil drop-outs and pupil testing, and the taking of dictation and many other duties which allow for the efficient and helpful functioning of the Counseling Office. Mr. Hasser has often spoken of how consistent a hard worker she is. In the words of Mr. Carlisle, She is one of the hardest and most dedicated Secretaries at Cleveland. Mrs. Betty Mehl
