A summons by the Klng was announced demandxng the presence of hrs new court The frrst of the lunlor Mards to appear represent1ng Term One was charm1ng Thyra Rogers who wore a pale gre n sat1n gown She was escorted by Drck Kaehn Term Two was well represented by Mane Koenlg whose lovely dark eyes and ha1r contrasted beautrfully wlth her llght blue formal Proudly escortrng her was D1Ck Webb Mary Ann Nue haus chotce of Term Three gracefully entered attxred 1n a beautlful llght green drop shoulder gown of ruffles Escortmg her was Dlck Heffner Next to appear was Wanda Garcla mald for Term Four escorted by Al Vlck She looked very damty 1n her gown of pmk marqulsette The processron con tmued as Helen Parker a Term FIVG student made her way to the throne on the arm of Chester Massot Her gown was of m1nt green taffeta ln a stunnlng gown of gold sat1n and net Sh1rley George the last of the IUUIOY Malds approached lns malesty w1tl'1 Dlck Gnder her escort And now the appearance of the f1rst Semor Mald was awarted The f1rst of the Spec1al Malds was Dons Ehrenrelch lookmg lovely IH an exqurslte blue formal tr1mmed m black bows and net E cort1ng her was Dale Lergh ton Also chosen from Term Seven was lackle W1nter wearlng an ent1c1ng blue gown of s1lk Iackre one of our cheerleaders was proudly escorted by jxm Kelley Wrth the entrance of the mnth ma d Georg1a Sp1ndler the crowd st1rred excrtedly Georgla petlte and charmmg 1n a r1ch gold brocade off the shoul der creatlon made an elegant entrance on the arm of Bob Zeller She truly looked the part of a mald worthy of a place ln any klngs court The last of the Specral Mards to bow before the royal court was Audrey Mayer Term E1ght wearlng an exotrc strapless gown of wh1te velvet tnmrned wlth lace and rhrnestones Her escort was M1ro Sprrk As the ant1c1pat1on rose to a clunax our happy new Queen MISS Hazel Parker appeared amrdst a burst of applause from the aud1ence Over a breath tak1ng gown of whrte fallle w1th a bodrce trlmrned tn sparklmg sequms Hazel wore her regal tram of whlte sat1n and ca1r1ed a bouquet of Amerlcan Beauty roses Very happy to be her escort was Bob Kuhn A hush fell over the aud1tor1um when Klng Lang placed the crown on h1s new Queen who then took her place on the throne and completed a plcture of Wh1Ch we were all proud Her crownbearer was B1lly Kendall and the tram bearers were Pat Skrles and loan Stark two freshman g1rls The Klng then demanded entertamment for hls court The program be gan wrth a poem announclng each performance by Lourse H1ndr1cks and Iack1e Courv1lle Ruth Meyer dehghted the audlence w1th a toe dance to the tune of Look for the Sllver Llnrng Rrchard Wledemann sang lonah and the Whale followed by a baton tw1rl1ng exh1b1t1on by Beverly Wart man The program progressed Wllh a four plece Comba play1ng Beacon an accordlon solo of Twelfth Street Rag by Sandra Muller and a soph1st1 cated dance by loan Zresler Our muscle men Frank F1egel and B1ll M11 stead performed ln a balanclng act Next was Clevelands own Al Iolson Mrke Fortner who sang Marnmy and For Me and My Gal For the fmal number on the program Curt Troeger and Ilona Kombrmk blended thelr VOICQS to 1ng Love Me Tonrght and Sympathy The Coronatton was brought to a close wlth the cheerleaders leadlng the aud1ence IH cheers and the Loyalty Song Sally Spengemann tu ' 1 ' 1 1 1 Q 1 1 1 V . 1 1 1 1 1 1 ' , 1 1 1 1 A 1 - 1 . . REVIEW For You a fantasy for sprtng wrltten by Dott1e Bower and arranged and produced by the students was presented at the Cleveland I-Ilgh School Audrtorlurn on the nlghts of Aprtl 28 and 29 1949 The openlng scene was a 1920 verslon of The Sldewalks of New York sung by Dottte Bower and Dale Mullaney It was followed by the dancers and the chorus dressed as Tenth Avenue Bowery KldS starrmg Wanda Garcla and Thelma MCKGHZIG lane Bergmeler and Ieanne Blerach recetved a much deserved ovatton for thexr Apache Dance On the Boardwalk was fxlled w1th fast movlng acts conslstlng of such stars as Ioe Slyman Dottle Bower Dale Mullaney Duke Schoen Shlrley Klemp the Gym Team and the Chorus The settmg of the scene was New York s famous Coney Island Ch1ckens Come Home a comedy sklt presented by the Dramattcs Club was followed by MISS Iulle Iuly a l1lt1ng duet sung by Delores Pleper and Rtch Heffner The next scene began on a summery day tncludmg Cru1s1ng Down the Blver It s a Most Unusual Day and Country Style We Ltke Western MOVIQS was the t1tle song 1n Scene Ftve descrlblng the modern West Some cow pokes Btch Wtedemann George Newman Dave McGowan Duke Schoen and some cowglrls Donna Hampel and Martlyn Mlllecker added to the western atmosphere wlth the1r rendlttons ot popular western d1tt1es Scene Slx featured two Gershwm songs I Got Plenty of Nothm sung 1n Negro d1alect by Lyle Elchborn and Bess You Is My Woman Now a duet by lean Luehrmann and lay Wllloughby An Evenmg at the Palace Included many var1et1es of nlght I1fe When My Baby Smtles at Me was done ln typtcal Ted LGWIS fashlon by Mtke Fortner The Novelty Band showed tts versattltty 1n thelr Splke Iones arrange ment of Laura A h1l1b1lly comedy verslon of Somebody Loves Me was done by Glorla Ohenn and ROSIG Wtlson Others entertalnlng at the Palace 1ncluded Ierry Iacobs, Ioan Zetsler, Lavad1a Burke, Gordon W1ll, Robert Arno, Iackte W1nter, and the dancers A revtew of the old farntltar band concert, tncludlng a pol1t1cal speech and group s1ng1ng, was presented Two muslcal Comedy stars, Curt Troeger and Ilona Kombrlnk, prov1ded a duet arrangement of My Hero A You're Adorable, the l1ll9 of the last scene, ended 1n a typlcally smooth ballroom fashlon wtth selectlons by the Novelty Band, Ioan Zelsler, Lavad1a Burke, Ioe Slyman, the Chorus, and the dancers Scene Nme closed the show wtth a perfect f1nale for a perfect show that was sure to brlng back fond memorles to both young and old lnd1v1dual credlt for the performance goes to M1ss C L Mann, M1ss Boland, Mr Barrett, M1ss M I Mann, MISS Knepper, Mr Peters, Mr Slnger, M1ss Ulbrlcht, Mr Hellrmch, Mr Doxsee, and M1ss Campbell The students ass1st1ng them were the Chatrman 1n Charge, Product1on Manager, and the Stage Manager, Curt Troeger, Bob Lauer, and Rlch Dahlgren, respectlvely Shtrley Iaeckle Donn Blev1ns , ,I.,,III,,II I I I I , I .
