Indeed, music is truly a master of . pl 9, h ?,f'eHfQiiOI1S. ff x GW! ffl ,PN ,V We often limit the term music to mean those melodies and harmonies which are produced by one or several of the various instruments. This is ,L fl' Us if f very wrong: for if one listens with his heart as well as his ears, he will find fl' ll' MY that there is music in all things. There is music in a rippling brook flowing briskly along beneath a grove of stately beech trees There IS music in the grace and delicacy of each flower which opens its lovely heaven painted petals to the World There IS music in art literature man and nature It is the music in man s heart which forms the many beautiful varied and often intricate themes of human civilization lust such a theme is formed by the teachers and pupils of Grover Cleveland High School The organiza tion the groups the individuals the Cooperation the precislon and the efficiency of this large high school are very similar to the highest form of musical composition the symphony Usually divlded into four related movements allegro andante con moto scherzo and allegro vivace each of different tempi and intensity the sym phony is a masterful blending of melody harmony and rhythm At Cleve land the seniors allegro the advisory groups andante con moto the clubs and organizations scherzo and the sports activities allegro vivace form four individual groups whose purpose is to further education of the mind and soul Each group functions individually forming a distinct muslcal motif Together they blend to form a complex but harmonious theme of life lt is this theme which we have chosen to portray as The Cleveland Sym phony Edwin Semi pf' :- I S- Y' 'K'- f, rf, X ff' 11 C' 'x 1 X C' 5. b Q .luh 3.2 , it In Q A D - .
