Today awareness of world affairs and the history upon which they are based is imperative to being goo d citizens. World History, American History, Psychology, Economics, American Gov- ernment, and Americanism vs. Commu- nism are taught to the three grade levels. Senior Social Studies — Psychology — Sociology, Government, Americanism vs. Communism, and Economics — are held in the A.V. room with classes ranging from 100 to 125 students. The Romance Languages are well represented at Clearwater High. Latin, the basis of them all and an important contributor to our own English, is taught through four years. Its study in- cludes not only grammar instruction but also a glance backward into the great civilization and literature of Rome. Inter Nos af- fords Latin students the chance to pursue their interest outside the classroom. Four years of Spanish are competently taught by three CHS teachers. Because of its importance in the world today and its prominence in our area, Spanish is the most popular foreign language offered. Los Gauchos has an active membership which furthers individual study and comprehension of Spanish. French is taught for two years. Supplemented by the club Les Esprits Gais, this course gives the student ample opportunity to begin a study of one of the most beautiful of the modern languages.
