Text from Pages 1 - 180 of the 1959 volume:

CLEARWATER HIGH SCHOOL; With sincerest appreciation for the many hours of service rendered to us and our school, we, the graduating class of nineteen hundred and fifty-nine, dedicate our AQUA CLARA to RUSSELL CANTWELL THE ALMA MATER The Crimson and the Gray well wear , Aloft the flag we’ll raise. We’ll sound our sho uts and sing our songs , For old Clearwater s praise. Then hail to the Crimson and Gray, boys, The colors we love so well, Thy loyal sons shall salute thee, As thy folds on the breezes swell. Then hail to the Crimson and Gray, girls, Forever and a day, May the flag of old Clearwater live, The Crimson and the Gray. I 8 Dear Students: This land is your heritage. You must dedicate yourselves anew to making in America a dem- onstration of a free, just, and unafraid society at work to show all the world that a government of the people and by the people can do more for the people than any other kind of government on earth. If you are to find rewarding satisfaction in your work, if your life is to be rich and purpose- ful and crowned with achievement, it is important that you continue to be a growing person. Education is a continuing process. It does not end with the termination of your schooling. Ed- ucation continues from the beginning to the end of life, and balanced growth throughout life is most important. You are urged to take advantage of the many opportunities offered you during your formal schooling, now and in later years, to grow intellectually, physically, socially, and spiritually. May you do this in such a manner and to such an extent that you will not have cause to say, “If I had my life to live over again, I would do differently.” Perhaps the following words of an unknown author will convince you of the value of educa- tion: “Education is a companion which no misfor- tune can decrease, no crime destroy, no enemy alienate, no despotism enslave; at home a friend, abroad an introduction; in solitude a solace, in society an ornament. It chastens vice, guides virtue, and gives grace and gov- ernment to genius. Education may cost finan- cial sacrifice and mental pain, but in both money and life values it will repay cost one hundred fold.” Sincerely, Robert Glenn Principal ELSIE PAT MYERS— Dean of Girls; B.S., Temple U.; M.A., U. of Fla.
