As we tripped off to the Jr. Sr. Prom for the Seniors, we left the poor little mechanics behind with few regrets. We had watched with longing last year and our turn had come—so would theirs. Then came May Day, held on the lawn in froiu of the school. The court, composed of Queen Jo Ann and King Charles; the attendants, Holly and Bill, Laura Lou and Jack, Mildred and Bill, and Lila and Chuck, looked beautiful sitting under the old oak trees with the glee club on one side, the orchestra on the other and flowers everywhere. Before we landed, we struggled through our exams and emerged trium¬ phant! Another voyage had come to its end. Our Okird Ori ' rip . Three-months leave over, we returned to take command, for we were ex¬ plorers this trip!!!! Right away we elected a capable command. Albert, Ned, Lila and Mil¬ dred were chosen to guide-us. With the arrival of our class jewelry came a sense of unity. Remember the locks on our lockers? My, but we fussed about them! But Mr. Feagle stood firm, and we succumbed to his command. With Coach Justice ' s absence, our winning streak took a tumble, but the old C.H.S. spirit was still in there pitching, so we gave opponents a rough time. How glad we were when Laura Lou and Jack joined the cheering squad. Remember how lovely Queen Jessie and her attendants, Holly, Gerry, Jo Ann, and Jean looked at Homecoming!! That was the Plant game-—the night the torrid Tornadoes were beaten. Soon basketball season was moving full speed. Who will ever forget the faculty and student team game with Miss Myers heading her magnificent faculty cheerleaders—Miss Kelley, Miss Turner, Miss Morse, Mrs. Turner, and Miss Foley. The faculty won?! Just before Christmas the band and orchestra presented a Christmas concert. Mid-year exams (ugh!) over, the annual staff rushed hither and yon with deadlines to meet; the senior class productions group hustled and bustled to get Best Foot Forward ' ready for presentation. We thought we had a good play with Delano and Henry in the s tarring roles, and it really did make a hit!! Our third trip was nearing an end, and suddenly we wanted it to cease hurrying. Then, our caps were on and we were walking sedately down the auditorium aisle to the strains of Pomp and Circumstance. At last, we were to receive the honor bestowed by dear old C.H.S. on those who were willing to work hard and continuously for their own betterment. As we waited to re¬ ceive the first material indication of our hard work, we wondered where the last few weeks had flown. The Sr. Play, Best Foot Forward, and the hit it made; May Day; Sr. Week, complete with Skip Day, the Prom and Banquet; final exams and diplomas. Had it really happened? Now that our trip was completed, were we finished? No—for though we had taken our last excursion, we would be making trips alone into the spaces of greater and higher knowledge. Our great voy¬ age of life had just begun!
