Student Council; Earl McKisson, the Honor Society; Milton Jones, the Key Club; Nancy Black, the Chatter Staff; Norman Wilcox, to be succeeded by Bob Ennis, the Annual Staff; Van Robinson, Quill and Scroll. Masque and Gavel chose as their leader Alice Beardsley, while Jim Read, later to be suceeded by Mary Collins, led the Ko-Op-Kouncil ; Edna Haynie, the Library Club; Betty Kamensky, F.L.S. Robert Jernigan, Mit- chell McMullen, George Lohmeyer and Otto Ruegg were elected our Junior Rotarians. Toward the end of March we found ourselves painting scenery, learning lines, thinking back to styles of 1912 and 1862 for our Senior Class Play, “Smilin’ Through” which was direct- ed by our own Sara de Kirkpatrick. It was perhaps, in some res- pects, a little more serious than previous senior plays, but wc might all profit by the experience of John Cartaret — that all hate and revenge blots out all love. Senior skip-day began the wind-up of the year. Taking the day off from our duties, we spent the whole day having one glorious time and coming home with beautiful sunburns to remind us of it. Then the orders came fast and furiously to wind up our activities and business at this fort and to make ready for deportation — destination unknown.
