oj- thz SznLoi dta±± Four years ago, we, the Lieutenants of 1943, entered as privates in the great camp of high school education at Fort C.H.S. During the first year, we did very little except to name Dick Caldwell as our head “drill sergeant”. At the time of our promotion to corporals in 1940, we were joined by corporals from the basic training camp at Dunedin and Safety Harbor and entered whole-heartedly into the work at Fort C.H.S. Our comrades-in-arms soon began to take notice of these high-rating corporals for we began to take part in the various social activities of the Fort. That year Chester McMullen was chosen as our 0. D., with Mrs. Lillie Milam as C.O. We found ourselves shipwrecked while on maneuvers, but were able to rescue ourselves in order to decorate for and usher at the baccalaureate service of 1941. Sergeants! Three Stripes! In this office we took a greater part in the activities at Fort C.H.S. With Mary Collins and Miss Sara de Kirkpatrick leading our company, this time, we inau- gurated, during Junior Week, the flag raising ceremony- gave - ception for our parents, entertained our superior officers in an air-raid shelter, and decorated for their graduation. Then the great day came — we received our commission — full-fledged Lieutenants — we had our bar. For the last stretch of our training here, Dick Caldwell again returned to the front as Commander-in-Chief; Delmar “Plug” Harris headed the
