It has Won elev- en cups and trophies. This year the band won first place at the state music contest in tampa, and the orchestra won second place. this is a state wide event. clearwater was the only city entered having both band and or- chestra place in the festival. much credit is due to prof grella for his fine work in teaching and directing the band. it has taken part in several parades this year, and has always made a very comenda- ble showing. the band has also put on a drill between halves at all of clearwater's football games. it formed letters on some occasions and simply drilled on others. burr randall has been thc drum-major for the past year. however, a new one is being selected for next year as the present Q is a member of the class of '37. N Y' of. grella feels that if this spirit con- li cs that clearwater will have the outstan- ding band in the state of florida. he hopes to raise enough funds to carry the band to new york state next year, when the football team goes up for its games. the members are looking forward to this trip ever gone through. now, they graduate and go off to college or into the business world a smile of satisfaction comes across the face of the writer because he knows they will tackle their future problems with the same earnestness and sincerity that they tackled opposing runners. and that means they will be successful men.
