SENIOR HISTORY We the Class of 55 at the age of sux found ourselves In a completely new envnronment school We looked around at all the new faces In wonderment As we became more acquannted and exchanged names we found Lee Bucknell Venn Marschall Katherine Fnnley Camllle Garner Gall Busch Bob McNeull Devona Walker Frmtz Budde Betty Robnnson and Shlrley Smnth who were stull wtth us when we departed from CLUH The htghltght of our Elementary School years was the eighth grade We were the oldest smartest bestest and biggest chuldren ln school We formed a Student Body and elected Gary Cossey Presldent Gaul Busch Secretary Camille Garner Treasurer We also had a yearbook whnch was named The Bugler and was edited by Gall Busch who later became the editor of the Cardinal and Black yearbook Gary Cossey designed the cover for the Bugler and he later became Art Editor for the Cardlnal and Black and the Buzz Graduation soon arrived and we presented a play the Aprlnana Tree which was wrltten by the students Evelyn Muhlhauser and Allan Sttce were the reclplents of the Cltnzenshnp awards diplomas were presented to all of us and we looked forward to our Freshman year at Hugh School We were welcomed In the usual manner described as nnttlatton and later more formally wlth the Freshman Reception Officers elected were Prestdent NEVEL LYONS Vtce President FRANCES PYZER Secretary GAIL BUSCH Treasurer CAMILLE GARNER Advtsors MISS AULGUR MR GARCIA ln our freshman year a total of thirteen of our rugged classmates turned out for football and after seven weeks of accumulatlng bumps and brulses two emerged to wun letters They were Nevel Lyons and Robert McNeill who both earned starttng posutlons on the Junior Varstty team Wtth three of our classmen representtng us on the B basketball squad Ron Ware was the only one to make a letter In track four out of our flashung class were able to achieve letters They were Lee Bucknell Jtm Morgan Fritz Budde and Nevel Lyons In T952 we became establlshed nn the reglme of hugh school ltfe and members of our class recetved honors such as Camllle Garner and Delores Kumball being elected cheerleaders Shlrley Smuth placing second In the Rotary Speech Contest and Gall Busch placing second an the Knights of Pythlas Speech Contest In sports we had one candudate for A honors and seven for B In basketball Gene Chantler earned an A letter and Lee Bucknell Larry Htnman Jam Morgan and Ron Ware gained B letters Track glorles went to the same four who won them during their freshman year This was the flrst year that a member of our class lettered un baseball, Venn Marschall Jam Larsen Jlm Morgan and Ron Ware performing the task Officers elected were President GAIL BUSCH Vtce President SHIRLEY SMITH Secretary EVELYN MUHLHAUSER Treasurer REBECCA ROSS Executive Commrttee LARRY HINMAN I I I I I I I I I I I I I I ' I I I I I . ,, ,, ' I I .
