VV? ivv Agp'-v' 20 Fronlrow left to right L West L Hile G Means Middle row K DeBolt K Machado B Busch D Harmon R Iverson Back row D Kimball J Sullivan R Lalferty S DeVoto J Ray D Wagner M Adair Mr Proulx Zfzflsvfy gbafgdy High in determination and spirit the Cardinals of T950 had a successful season The Cardinals opened the season against Hamilton City The hometowners started off with a rush and led 20 6 at the end of the first quarter The superior manpower of Hamilton City proved too much however and the final score was 45 28 in the visitors favor Our next foe was last year s league champions the Trolans of Lower Lake The game proved to be an offensive battle, with Lower Lake proving to have the most guns, 60 43 The next week Middletown came to Lakeport to see what she could do to make it three straight losses for the Cardinals Busch blocked a Middletown punt with two minutes to go and Devoto recovered on the visitors' twelve yard line Four plays later, Adair carried the ball over to win the game, 20 15 After Wheatland came out on the long end of a 52 T3 score, Adair ran wild and the defensive team played up to par for the first time Lakeport scored 32 points in the first quarter and went on to end the game at the start of the fourth quarter of the traditional Upper Lake Armistice Day Big Game, 52-6. ln the most crucial game of the season, Lakeport traveled to Kelseyville to meet the powerful lndians. Lakeport went down to defeat 20-l9 in a hard fought game. A bad pass from center caused a safety and the downfall of Lakeport. The seniors on the squad were Milton Adair and Dick Wagner, co-captains, Bruce Busch, center, Richard Lafferty, end, and Lloyd West, a defensive standout. 28

Superuor blocking and tackling enabled Lakeport to run up the large score. ln the sixth game with Upper Lake the Chicks again went to town and lifted the score to a safe height. Upper Lake dominated the first halt by scoring all of their points while holding Lakeport scoreless. The Chicks proved too powerful and easily won the game in the second half. The local J.V. power won their seventh game from Kelseyville with a safe score of 26-6. Kelseyville put up quite a fight but couldn't slip through the tough defense of the Chicks. The boys who played good, clean games all the way through should be excellent material for a good team next year. 30
