We, at CHS, feel that we have all three. For the past three and a half years Mrs. Sarah Atwater, who by stressing exactness and neatness, has graduated with honors many promising students into higher studies of science. Since her arrival at CHS she has stimulated interest in the field of science and greatly improved our science department by being an inspiration to faculty and students alike. For devoted service and outstanding leadership, we the Clahischo Staff of 1965 wish to dedicate this yearbook to Mrs. Sarah Y, Atwater as a token of our apprecia- tion, Two People Who Are Themselves Dedicated. what I was doing, I would still want to be doing just what l am. -STEVENS COLLEGE BULLETIN Mr. Herman Vinson, our Guidance Counselor, is another who is deserving of recognition. Blue and white were predominant colors on walls, bulletin boards, and on students. With the sound of the morning bell, and in the last mo- ments, the muffled hush, with a few rah-rahs heard from some students spill- ing their buoyant spirits, the words going through every student's mind were ex- pressed Today is Homecoming DayQ X 4 QQ ' ing 1964 Yes this was the big occasion, a time of pride, of memories, and of happiness. As the day progressed, the tension grew. Songs were being sung and the cheers were being shouted. At the sound of the last bell, there was a series of whoops and yells. The goal posts were decorat- ed, last minute preparations were being made for the homecoming nominees. Then finally the night arrived. . . Spir- its were at their highest ebb. As the halftime ceremonies approached, guesses were being made. Then there was the procession of nominees, a pause, a crown roses, and a homecoming queen. l Miss Clahischo GAYLE BLINSON My I ,149 f L5S2Y:zff QM . ,WY BROOKIE GORDON - First Runner-up DONNA MacDOWELL - Second Runner-up Miss The Miss Clahischo Pageant is a highlight in the year's activi- ties. The pageant is sponsored by the Clahischo staff. Through dedication ofthe contestants, work of the staff, and Mr. Wil- liam's optimism the night had it's full glory. There were eight con- testants who participated in talent and evening gown competition. The electric tensity of the air was felt and seen glowing in every girl's eyes. Armed with lemons, and nursing throbbing feet, the girls struggled through. All the while, back-stage, the staff was frantically wondering why all the fuses were blowing. Then after wails of never again . . . I'l1 be glad . . . and straightening wisps of hair, last minute instruc- 1 I Clahischo 1965 tions were given and the final phase began, Three finalists were selected, Brookie Gordon, Donna MacDowell, and Gayle Blinson. Questions were posed by the M. C. and answered, then the selection was made. Second runner-up was Donna MacDowell, first runner-up, Brookie Gordon . . . and Miss Clahischo for 1965 - Gayle Blinr son. There were gasps of breath from back-stage, applause and the queen was crowned for 1965. Then tears and congratulations, and the night was over . . . until another year. Gayle reigned as queen of the dance following the pageant and serenity enhanced the faces of eight girls and one tired annual staff. MARIE AIKEN Annette is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Barham. His emotions consist of a carefully stirred mixture of independence, self-con fidence, intellect, and love of mankind, with slight touches of fear and confusion. The seniors have been leaders and have looked upon this last year with pride and a feeling of superiority. The senior year has been the height of responsibilities and reaching for the future. One has become an individual with definite thoughts, no longer one of the mass belonging to the crowd. Every phase of life takes on more meaning and the thirst for greater knowledge is seen glowing in one's eyes.
