THE QUEST When we began our search, the quest for knowledge, To help us along our way, our parents made.their pledge. Our teachers' aim was this: That we keep our goal in sight, Never ceasing to work and strive with all our might, With patience and with love, given without care, They have been beside us, our burdens to bear. We 've worked hard, but it has been fun. Many people we have metg here lasting friendships we've begun. tw X' gn, W 4 a- - , lu U . x. ,om if M ' ll V' f fill if f ,f 11' W 0 4 Wy 5, ' A! ,ff V XS X sl!-, , X ,- I 14-NX Q , 1 5 1' mf' ff N xx I . We are Seniors nowg we have traveled thus far. We stand before the door, waiting to lift the bar. We lift the bar, and unlatch the door-- The door to the future a place we haven't seen before, We've reached a point in our quest where recognition now is due. Yet once again with heads held high our search we do renew. For never ending is our quest, But all we know is: we'll do our best. --Ann Shehdan Class Poet

Dear Diary, Tonight we, the class of '55, make our last appearance together. For twelve long years we've been classmates, Let's turn back the pages and renew our memory of these years. September, 1942. At last we are in school, snaggled toothed, of course , and just alittle scared. Miss Janie and Katherine Harrison are our very firstteach- ers. We are going to learn the 3R's, whatever they are. September, 1943. We already know how to spell cat and rat, and we know that lplus 1 equals 2, so we think now that we are ready to learn something really big. Miss Britt and Miss Batts are here to help us. September, 1944. We are really learning fast, here we are in the third grade already. Arithmetic stumps us a little, but we'll pull through with Mrs, Welch and Miss Satterfield. September, 1945. Guess what? We're taking up a new subject this year-- geography. lsn't that thrilling! Mrs.Poole and Miss Godwin say we'll like that. September, 1946-1947, We're here at the gate of grammar school now and we're a-larning, oops, learning some important English, writing letters and themes 11000 wordsj. Miss Woodall, Miss Uzzle, Mrs, Crutchfield, and Mrs. Martin are our worried teachers. September, 1948-1949. We wonder if the 7th grade is hard. Miss Gray and Miss Tew say not if we study. Miss Tew is going to try to teach us a little about U.S.Government, and she says when we get to be 21 we can vote for the President of the U. S, She says that one of us might grow up to be President. We wonder. a mm rm i i tm , T 1
