MASS PIIIIPHHZY l returned home, after working in California since graduation ten years ago, While unpacking my trunk, I found an old Clayton annual, Leafing through it, I realized that the members of my class had turned out well, The former Adair Whisenhunt sits in the White House beside her beloved husband Troy Page, Jr, , who recently was elected President of the United States. Dan Knott, now a lawyer, has a very fine practice and also a capable secretary, Anne Austin, Oh, yes! Leamon Benson has taken Mr, Waters' place as Principal of Clayton High School, Betsy Ragland has just recently been crowned Miss North Carolina of 1962, She will soon enter the Miss America Contest. Murray Coats has become a fine Doctor with Leona Benson as his nurse, Margaret Crowder was content to stay in Clayton. She is now manager of the La Salle Beauty Salon, along with her assistant, Lexine Jones. Oh, yes, Sam Beddingfield has gone into the model airplane business, And Carolina's basketball team is doing fine, now, under the hands of their coach, .Toe Barbour. Frances Harperjoined the WACS,The United States Armed Forces will really go places now! Ellendale Byrd doesn't have much time for her old friends in Clayton since she and Margaret Truman have become pals, They will soon start on their fourth trip around the world, None will forget Douglas Harrison. I-le is now a clown in the Barnum and Bailey Circus. How things change--even the circus. Leonard Moore has become a judge, and is kept busy, He is now at home for arest, after a case in which Phillip Fish pleaded guilty to first-degree murder, Our class poet, Doris Daughtry, has just published a new book of poems entitled Poems for the Weary, which promises to be a best seller, Daphene Allen is now designing in Paris. It seems that we had a scientist in our class, Larry Ross has just finished his latest in- vention, ,a rocket ship to the moon, Donald Phillips will be the first passenger, He wants to see if the moon is really made of cheese, And Betty Hamilton has started a Rooster Farm here right in Clayton, Only her roost- ers stay in a play-pen instead of a chicken-pen, Camilla Wall has set up a business of her own, She is running a peroxide store, It sells for Sl, OO an ounce now, Mamie Davis is doing well with her horse ranch in Californiag that is, as long as she sticks to horses and leaves Van Johnson alone, And last of all, Harol-d Crabtree, the pride of the senior class, has taken Jersey Joe Walcott's place as heavy-weight champion of the wo1 id.
