Americas future depends upon the ability of its high school graduates to assess these issues properly and resolve them intelligently. .-X partly enlightened citizenry breeds dis- sension. a luxury we cannot afford at this time when there is such an urgent need for national unity. A greater measure of common understanding is realized when more people arrive at solutions based on knowledge and critical evaluation. The greatest contribu- tion that a social studies teacher can make toward national strength through unity is to stinmlate the student's desire to learn more about our nation's social, economic, and political activities and to assist him in making objective Conclusions.
