SENIOR CLASS PROPHECY Here it is ten years after our graduation night. We are driving down the road and stop at the famous Beetle Bug Drive-inn. Driving the red and purple Cadillac is Sammy Schoonover. Sammy's wife, the former Carol Belt, is with him. She also has their twelve children with them. By the way, have you read the book, Cheaper by the Dozen? We see Kwentin Keenan, Joyce Dorsey, David Graham, Janice Triplett, Darrel Mullins, and Betty Hughes. They are all doing a new dance called the Beetle Bop . We still have a few old-timers who are still doing the Bird. They are Gary Smith, Judy Durham, Carl Holcomb, and Betty Jo Hardman. We walk to the back of the room and see Morgan Bragg proposing to Dawne Butcher. Looks as if there's going to be another wedding. Here we are a week later. We are back at the Beetle Bug Drive-inn. The couple are now saying I do to the Rev. Buck Coulter. John Morris is picking on the old banjo, Tommy Groves is playing the guitar and Garland Tenny is trying to sing their latest hit It Happened on the Muddy River. Sitting in the nearest booth are Terry Blankenship, Charles Mullins, Charles McCune and Mary Tracy. We see Kaye Hubbard slowly wipe away a tear. She is madly in love with the groom. Dorothy Neal, Barbara Ross, Charlotte Turner, and James Taylor are congratulating the bride and groom. Here comes the college group in to give their last regards. They are Larry Williams, Carol Hamrick, Susan Duffield, Clayton Young and James Cadle. They have been attending the new Hootenanny University in Clay, West Virginia. Everyone is starting to laugh. Let's see what is going on. We should have known that Jo Workman was here. Her escorts are Ronald Sirk, Kenneth Johnson, and Ronald Conner. Let's look again! They are being mistaken for a very popular singing group the Roaches . But the Roaches are following behind. They are David Wayne, Donna Gray, Sh ar o n G r ah a m Canfield, Linda Adkins and of course Weldon Brown. Somebody is coming down the street in a very pretty orange and blue convertible. It is Queen Romilda Neal and her escort Albert Adkins. Just look at the crowd that is gathering. A few that are seen in the crowd are Lola Size- more, Roy Love, Nancy Brady, Jim Lockhart, Carolyn Bosley and Harold Bailes. Whatis this we see now? Oh, no, it can't be! But it is! Richard Edwards,who is now an army sergeant, just walked by. He says Uncle Sam sent him looking for Connie Boggs, Deloris Braley, Lorita Cantrell and Anna Dennis. These four privates have been AWOL for the last week. Just look at those down the street. Guess they must have got tired of Hollywood and they came back to the big city ofClay. These stars are Karen Holcomb, Lynn Hinkle, and Joy Jeffrey. Jerry Duffield, Larry Santacrose, and Donald Gray are following them. They must have had enough of the movie screen, too. Down on Checkerboard Square we see a new gas station. The manager is Mr . Ke rmit Oxley . The Nottingham brothers, Clarence and Ralph, are his attendants. Oops!! ! Just look at his mechanics. They are Karen Brannon, June Bullard, and Marie Hopkins. Here comes another car into the station. It is only Freddy Jones and his wife, the former Sharon Gray. Freddy is driving a new car called the Soar- ing Jerk. By the way, this car was designed by two very famous designers, Samuel Riddle and Arnold Samuels. We just heard there's a party going on out at the Sugar Shack. Here comes a car full of people, but let's try to get a ride with them anyway. James Ward, Carol Woods, Ella Truman, John Terry, Mary Sayre, and Inez Stephenson are the only ones in the car. They still have room for Edward Clark, Beverly Gray and Janice Dawson. Well we finally arrived at the party. What happened to the people over by the window? They have on overalls, plaid shirts and work shoes. Oh, how silly of us not to recognize them. It is the farmers, Bobby Brown, Robert Ramsey, and Jerry Starcher. It is only their wives with them. They are the former Brenda King, Sharon Canfield, and Cindreda Murphy. What is Wilma Owens trying to do? She is only doing a new dance called the Potato Row Stomp. The Ferrebee brothers, Larry and Lawrence are now joining her. The floor is getting crowded now. James Legg, Linda Nicholas, and Loretta Adkins are looking for some partners. They won't have to look very long because here comes Sandra Baker, Larry Salisbury and Lloyd Salisbury. We just got a message from Wayne Hinkle, president of the United States. He said to send out our best troops because there is a war starting between the Beetles and the Roaches. Sothe draft board is sending out George Ramsey, Kermit Ramsey, Judy Shamblin, Sandra Hanson, Leta Hol- comb, and Carolyn King Lucas. We are arriving at the battle field. Hey!! They have forgotten about the war. They are having a hootenanny. Some of the folk singers are Jerry Metheney, Troy Molla- ham, Jane Walker, Linda Wilmoth, and Carolyn Butcher. What's the sheriff, Dale Davis doing here? He says he's looking for Jane Spencer and Jeanne Dodrill because they just robbed the bank. We think he is mistaken about the robbers because we just saw Betty and Nancy Eagle running away with the money bags. James Fields and Thomas King are running after them. We don't know if they helped rob the bank or if they are just going to catch the girls and turn them over to the police. Maybe detectives Ronald Adkins and Charles Belt can help solve the case. Let's go down to the new airport and see how things are. Vincent Young, Earnest White, Claude Westfall and George Townsend are the proud pilots who are standing back and admiring their planes. Uh-oh looks like there might be some trouble because here comes two women pilots. They are Verna Daniels and Marlene Carr. Looks as if the women can do just almost anything that the men do now. We see Garnet Arnold, Loretta Bledsoe, Hallie Boggs, Trina Boggs and Tawny Boggs getting aboard the planes. Stop! What's the matter with Ray Holcomb. He says William Hanshaw and Robert Hathaway put a bomb on one of the planes. But it was only David Stalnaker and Larry Gray putting off fire crackers. Now we are all set to go. Here it is five minutes later and we are in Honolulu. Doris Douglas, Brenda Gray Stone, and Hazel Hanshaw are welcoming the visitors. We see Pamela Samples, Carolyn Paxton Litton, Carrie Nicholas, and Brenda Moore taking a swim. Wow! Look at the life guards. They are Carl Brown, Alan Chapman, Cecil Darnell and Larry Boggs. Look who just went in the pawn shop. Of course it was Charles Foreman. He is trying to pawn his red necktie so he can get some money to take Emma Humphrey, Carolyn Igo, Linda Kerr, and Ruth Ann Morris to the movies. Ruth Nichols and Veda Ramsey, the owners of the pawn shop, say they will give him the money for his tie if they can go to the movies, too. When they get to the movie they find that Silly Hypo- chondriac is playing. Starring in this movie are Susie Boggs, Penny Bourne, Ada Fields and Chester Coleman. We hate to leave you but our plane just landed. We have to get back to the Beetle Bug Drive-Inn and see how our new singers are doing. They are Garry Holcomb, Betty Pritt, Dorris Morris, Rosemary Samms and Ledra Tanner. By the way, they are known as the Know-Nets . It looks as if the Senior Class of 1964 is having a pleasant life in the future. We think our class will do much good in this world. --Dorothy Neal and Kaye Hubbard
