Allen Murphy explains n point of Shakespeare to the other team members. Brains Battle It 0ut Eight students vied for positions on the four- member high school quiz bowl team. They were Jeff Poppe, Don Kopka, Shirley Mathews, Louis Nagy, Allen Murphy, Jim Saelzler, Bruce 'Wal- lace and Rodney Bauer. At a school assembly, the eight answered questions similar to those on the quiz bowl. Points were given for each correct answer. The four highest scorers became the quiz bowl team. They were Shirley Mathews, Allen Murphy, Rodney Bauer, and Bruce Wal- lace. The alternate was Louis Nagy. The team met in practice sessions before each television match. They defeated Central Catholic by a score of 270-230, and Mfaite by a score of 380-160. In the semi-finals they lost in a close contest, 200-180, to Libbey. Duung onc of their practice sessions, Rod Bauer and Bruce l'Va1lace check 1 math prohlcm on thc board. Mr. Gretzinger helps Shirley Mathews by giving her old tests to work on .
