Senior Class History On September 13, 1937, one hundred and fifty of us entered Clay High for our First day as high school students. Although high school life seemed bewildering and strange to us for the first fevv Weeks, we were soon able to adjust ourselves to its busy tempo. The class officers whom vve elected in October were Betty Kinney, president, Ernest Gable, vice-president, Inez Coon, secretary, and jack Coy, treasurer. We selected Robert Connor, Jack Coy, Helen Woolcott and Phyllis Dubbs for our student council representatives and they did right Well. In our sophomore year, a little surer of ourselves, one hundred and thirty-two of us returned. We again elected class ofiicers and this time we chose Fred Moring, presi- dent, Jack Klotz, vice-president, Melvin Albertson, secretary, and Bonnie McCroskey, treasurer. We also chose student council representatives and joined in the various activities so that the months went by quickly. Then We became juniors and very busy ones at that. We elected our class officers. They were Jack Klotz, president, Irene Higley, vice-president, Eunice Mae Albertson, secretary, and Robert Shaneck, treasurer. National and County Honor Society members were also chosen by the faculty. I 24

Senior Class History On November 17, we gave our junior class play, Raggedy Nan which was a great success. We sponsored a hve-cent movie and a skating party to earn money for the big event of the year, the Junior-Senior prom, which was held May 3, at the Trilby Log Cabin. We also had the pleasure of giving the seniors a farewell assembly and this was our final act as juniors. September 3, 1940 soon rolled around and we returned as seniors, eager to see what we could accomplish. We chose as our final class ofhcers, Robert Shaneck, presi- dent, Melvin Albertson, vice-president, Inez Coon, secretary, and Fred Moring, treasurer. The ways and means committee under the chairmanship of Betty Kinney undertook the job of raising the money needed by the senior class. Among the activities sponsored were a movie, two skating parties, a doughnut sale and a ghost basketball game. The annual class play In The Doghouse was given May 2. The usual activities were almost finished, and the last few weeks crammed with such doings as the class clay, baccalaureate services, and commencement exercises. Then with both hope for the future and sadness at parting with old friends, we said farewell to high school days. I 25
