1974 CLAYTONIAN C5 sentiments journr order your CLAY CITY UNIT DISTRICT 10 CLAY CITY, ILLINOIS DEDICATION The Class of 1974 is happy to dedicate this edition of the CLAYTONLAN to Mr. John Robert Foreman. Robb was hired as a bus driver in 1952. He left after five years of service, but returned in 1961 as a custodian. He was promoted to head custodian in 1965. Robb resigned from our school Nov. 1, 1973. The Class of '74 takes great pride in dedicating this CLAYTONIAN to him with special thanks for his years of dedication and devoted service to our school. We extend to him our best wishes for the future. 3 IN MEMORIAM I LOVE YOU, has been said so much ... in many, many ways ... and no doubt we will hear it said ... for die rest of our days . . . Yet as old as it may be . . . it's always sweet and new, especially when someone says it . . . from their heart to you ... It is the universal larguage . . . known to one and all . . . and it can make the difference ... if we're to rise or fall ... I LOVE YOU, just three little words ... but always good to hear ... It tells when someone is glad to have you near . . . even when it's said promiscuously . . . There's magic in the phrase . . . even though the sparks die out . . . before there is a blaze ... I hope you hear it many times . . . throughout this short life ... for I know it's capable ... of quellii hurts of strife ... for there is no other phrase . . . like the one, I LOVE YOU, especially if you hear it . . . from a heart that's true. 4 TABLE OF CONTENTS DIVISION PAGE ADMINISTRATION FACULTY CLASSES ORGANIZATIONS ATHLETICS ACTIVITIES ADVERTISING BOARD OF EDUCATION (L to R): Bill Mitchel; Jerry Kessler; Mona Powell; Loren Dunigan, Vice President; Albert Michels; James Cockerel, Secretary; Warren Wattles, President. The 1974 Junior-Senior Prom was held on May 25 and featured a banquet, a dance, a movie, and a breakfast. The banquet was held in the gymnasium where the juniors, seniors, faculty, board of education, and other invited guests enjoyed a great dinner, the reading of the Class Will by Jerry Murbarger, and the reading of the Class Prophecy by Gina Thompson. The dance was the next event on the agenda, and it too was held in the gymnasium though the place was hardly recognizable thanks to the decorations created by the Junior class and Mrs. Martha Pearce. The Juniors and their guests danced to the music of Jehova. Following the dance, the group attended an enjoyable movie, THE CLASS OF '44, which was shown at the Arcadia Theatre in Olney.
