CLAYTONIAN FACULTY Faculty, we are now leaving you! Your number is eight, more or less And we like every one of you Even after all our troubles in class After all we’ve been called down But no wonder, when you look at the wall And the marks we made on the floor Caused by races that were run in the hall. Oh, we really weren’t angels, we know! But shux, we did have to do something. And now we’re all going away And what then will go wrong. Nothing. But I’ll bet you’ll miss us. It will be quiet when we’re gone You’ll find out that time will drag. And a day will seem a year long. And we’ll miss all of you, too. Wnen we want to get good advice. When we get lonesome and blye And people ask, are you men or mice, We know we owe you all a lot But we’ll pay you back some time. When we become great in this world And our names all appear in the head lines Then is when we’ll pay you hack ’Cause you’ll be proud to know You taught us all we know Faculty, we’re leaving you! —Joyce Sapp
