Fitting It All Together On September 2, 1984, Jill Little walked into big Clay-Battelle High School. She was puzzled by all the classrooms and the hundreds of pushing, shoving students in the halls. With a schedule in one hand and a notebook in the other, she started to search for her homeroom. She wandered from one room to another almost in a state of panic until she finally found it. After that she stuck with the rest of the seventh graders like glue for the rest of the day. Jill found it difficult to fit all the elements of this new environment together at first. Little things like unlocking her locker were frustrating as well as having seven different teachers instead of one each day. Then on a larger scale the incessant excitement of athletic competition dazzled her while the glitter of the many theme dances enchanted her. By the end of the 1984-85 school year, the pieces had finally come together. It was a slow process which involved a great deal of hard work, but Jill completed the school puzzle with success. As the year ended Jill recalled some of the highlights of her first year as a Cee-Bee. First she remembered the very successful 1984 football team that went to the state playoffs, the busloads of students walking across the bridge, the excessive snow days, 3000 fans on the football field, and Mr. Van Meter dressed as the only woman teacher with a mustache.
