Executive O fieer Lieutenant Commander William E. Vollmer, Jr., gradu- ated from Bucknell University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree and received his commission at Officer Candi- date School in 1956. He served in USS EPPERSON IDDE-7191, as CIC, ASW and Operations Officer, and in 1960 took command of USS HUMMINGBIRD CMSC-1921. From 1961 to 1963 he was Aide to the Chief, Military Assistance Advisory Group, the Netherlands, and then reported to USS HOOPER KDE-10262 as Executive Officer. A tour in the Bureau of Naval Personnel followed, and he relieved as Executive Officer of the USS CLAUDE V. RICKETTS CDDG-51 on 14 August 1967.
