Prelude O Music! Sphere-descended maid, Friend of Pleasure, Wisdorn's aid. Throughout the ages music has assumed an ever-increasing im- portance in the complexities of life and has become a universal symphony in which everyone may participate, either as a crea- tor, a performer, or an apprecia- tive listener. In this modern world it is a social science, a glo- rihed servant, illuminating every other subject in the students rep- ertoireg but it is most of all-- in itself-the greatest cultural force in the daily life of every indi- vidual. As a bridge between ideas and phenomena, an outlet for im- mortal genius, a perfector of the soul and quieter of the passions music was, is, and always shall be the nrst and most natural expres- sion of human thought and emo- tion for all mankind. Close harmony, pulsating rhythm, staccato tempo . . . these are the keynotes of the atmos- phere at Classical. The faculty and student body symbolize the inner workings of a great orches- tra, the interaction and ultimate harmony of discordant elements striving to produce a unity, a general effect, a more thorough understanding of the harmony and rhythm that is Nature, if As a tribute to the importance of music in our daily lives, The Class of 1959 proudly presents its CLASSICAL SYMPHONY
