IVY COPELAND MISS ETHEL BASINCER MISS MARY CANTRELL The Commerce Department of Classen gives adequate training for anyone entering the business field. There are opportunities for bookkeepers, stenographers, typists, and machine operators. Also, distributive education and diversified occupations are now offered. To further aid students, there is a plan of securing jobs .for them by Classen's faculty. They are not only prepared for their jobs, but given a chance to do the work for which they are trained. .-19...

MR. ARTHUR IOHNSON J-lead of Department VOCAL AND INSTRLIME TAL MUSIC The vocal music department under the direc- tion of Mr. Merl Comelius, and the instru- mental music department led by Mr. Arthur johnson have moved into new rooms this year. Both are spacious and have adjoining rooms for storing music, robes and other de- partmental equipment. The Classen choir, always one of the finest of its kind, has presented many programs and made a fine showing at the Norman contests. 'The concert and marching bands have enter- tained us at assemblies and games and also MR. MERL CORNELIUS Head of Department ART Being the only Art teacher this year, Miss Mary Lamb Lewis has been under a terrific strain with all of the work which had to be done. She has done a wondrous job not only in art work but also in teaching two classes almost every hour during the day. The department's responsibilities are to make floats for parades, stage props for Assemblies, posters for all occasions, and the art work in the Orbit. DRIVER y drivers have passed the test. MR ROBERT REID J-lead of Department -21- taken honors at contests. MISS MARY LAMB LEWIS fi-lead of Department Driver Education, under the direction of Mr. Robert Reid, is an elective course in which the student leams the rules of safe driving.
