The Sooners, our super swing band, represent the idea of all the activities here at Classen. These boys, each an artist on his instrument, have given much of their extra time to practicing with the group in order to make their band really good. This organization is typical of all the other activities because in each case it is the leaders who participate in them. There are not just a few leaders at Classen but many who take part in the extra-curricular activities. Selling and buying war starnps, helping as hospital aids, learning to fly, being a member ot teen town, attending the mixers-all these require persons who will take the initiative. Participation in school pro- ductions and on the staffs ot publications teach the students to be active in his community. Leadership is achieved through participation, by following the examples of others. The leaders ot the school are the most active but they are the ones who always seem to have time to do a little more. They are school-spirited and eager to help in putting over new ideas, and they can also stick up for their views. Taking honors in their stride, always knowing their place, our high school leaders go on to real greatness.
