mf, ,uw mmm Mrs. Helen Nance Bean wins the cup for having been here the longest. She's worked as Classen registrar for 9 years, and people are beginning to call her fixture . Before then she went to school here. Her duties are to file scholar ships and awards from Classen, keep the record of everyone in school, send transcripts to other schools and universities distribute new pupils' progress folders, and keep permanent active, inactive, and graduate files Mrs. Mavanee Iohnson has been Mr. Bakers secretary for four years. As a sample of her intelligence, we offer the fact that although she schooled at Central, she came to Classen to work. Not ALL Centralites are stupid, we reckon. She has to remind Brother Baker about his appointments, handle his correspondence, act as teachers' nursemaid, meet parents and outsiders which come to the office, select and assign duties to office assistants, handle special reports, bulletins, and requisitions, check orders, and keep fresh flowers on her desk. Miss Isalona Carter has been attendance clerk here for three years and attended school here also. All she has to do is grow gray checking attendance, call mothers of truant Comets, refuse all bribes, and keep being a good old gal. Elo Beth Todd, leanne Collins, and Betty lane Swanson sort at- tendance cards preparatory to compiling the absenteelist. Student assis- tants of Mrs. lohnson, Miss Carter, Mr, Wallace, and Mrs. Bean include Lillian Graves, Betty Iayne Patterson, Beulah Mae Trout, Ela Beth Todd, Betty Bob Angerman, Betty lane Swanson, Mariorie Kerfoot, Virginia Massad, Betty Lou Boberts, Betty Boss, Imogene Kraus, Betty Ann Gilbert, leanne Collins, Frances Gooch, Edna Mae Iohnson, Betty Lou Showalter, Lorraine King, ljileen Abbott, Ann Orr, loan Harmon, Mattie Fred Stan- ford, Doris Boesler, Margaret Hicks, Christine Roark, ldagene Irby, Bon- ita Hurt, leanne Beardstey, Bob Benshaw, and Paul Fondren. Registrar Helen Bean and com- pany have YOUB number-they know more about you than your mother, your horoscopist, and I, Edgar Hoover fand what's more, they won't accept hushumoney, Miss Isalona Carter and Mrs. Mavanee lohnson are the two chief office moguls -'theirs is the blame for your name being on the black list - iust because you didn't have your math and the north-door proctor wasn't looking, Sf

For, whether or not he realizes it, his highschool instructors have played a most im- portant part in the strengthening of his character, the moulding of his attitudes, and the promotion of his ideals. They helped him through the uncertain, wavering, yet vital process of growing up. The flourishing or the fading, though the task of the individual, is indirect ly due to the influence of his teachers. They believe and employ the principles of democracy, and we, believing, practice them ourselves. As capable mentors, as considerate disciplinarians, as sympathetic advisors, as genuine friends, we feel that no group could surpass the members of the Classen faculty.
