We, the Seniors of '54, launch out into the future with a deep sense of gratitude to the people who have made our high school days rich with experiences that will give us a firm foundation to face tomorrow. To our parents, we owe our appreciation for their many sacrifices in order that we might attend C.C.H.S. To our teachers, we give our applause for guiding us so surely through the fields of leaming. To our fellow-students, we express our hearty thanks for the many friendships and memories we have known. It is to you that we are indebted for our accomplishments as a class. Accomplish- ments of which we are proud, but accomplishments which we hope will be incentives for Seniors to come. May the passing years bring new heights of progress to Clarke County High. We en- joy doing our part in keeping the building and grounds clean. It is our duty to keep the rest rooms in our building. We are glad to have this responsibility. It makes us feel that we are really doing something toward keeping our building nice and clean. Inour rade we en'o stud in Arithmetic Science Language History Spelling Geog- g . The course is enriched by library reading, daily newspapers, dramatization of history stories, making Alabama booklets, and field trips. Science is another subject everyone likes. Experiments and moving pictures in the classroom add much to the interest of the daily work. At all times, citizenship and sportsmanship are stressed in the school room, on the school grounds, and wherever they are. Mrs. Q.W. Tucker and Mrs E.V. Chapman teach this grade. ,,,........---1 ll .. THE THIRD GRADE The third grade is one large class this year with forty-seven children and one teacher, Miss Coate. Our first big problem was to get used to such a large group and to crowd ourselves in one room. Our next big problem was to find time to study all the many books we are sup- posed to study in the third grade. We soon knew some studying had to be done. Our teacher says we have done fine with these problems. Some think that learning to write is very hard, but most of us are soon writing very good. We enjoy our music and leam many songs of a different nature. We like to leam poems and scripture. We begin to leam about the world and the many different people who live in it. We begin to see how much there is for a pupil to learn and enjoy. This group is divided into two classrooms with thirty-seven in one room and nineteen i.n the other. The children enjoy together their play periods, rhythm band, and film strips. In spite of crowded conditions, a happy atmosphere pervades the r00mS as the classes keep busy with their daily tasks.
