Spanish Honors GR changes usual theme to Mardi Gras style IVlardi Gras: carnival excitement straight from New Orleans! Multi-colored balloons, paper kites and foil-wrapped chocolate coins created a festival atmosphere for the annual Girls’ Reverse. The Spanish Honor Society, which took over sponsorship of the February event, encouraged couples to dress in costume for the evening, an annual tradition designed to ease the mid-winter blahs. Many couples started the evening with dinner before the dance, which featured music by the Dynamic Sound Company. They finished the night with a late show at a Strip hotel to make a romantic memory of 1984. 42 Girls’ Reverse

Donkey Basketball provides excitement with spectacular play Determination and stubborn animals marked this year's donkey basketball game, sponsored by the Clark High Band. The fierce competition began with the Lettermen taking on the Band, with Jimmy Vega’s group winning top honors, defeating the Lettermen 10-8. In the other first-round match, the District Court judges competed with the Nevada Highway Patrol. Having considerable problems with their donkeys, the patrolmen lost a tough battle to the judges, 12-10. The effective fast-break of the judges proved loo much for the Highway Patrol. In the final game, the energetic band used an original and inventive strategy to defeat the judges in a low-scoring contest. The CHS Band had better positioning and tactics, as well as a good team of donkeys.
