Practice, coordination keep varsity spikers in contention for title Maturity, dedication and concentration were just a few of the characteristics that helped build this year's varsity volleyball team. The team as a whole had a very good season, and each girl realized she was an essential part of the team's framework. Playing well thoughout the season were Sue Evans. Terry Cooley. Dana Schneider and Sue Murphy, each of whom Coach Bob Kelley assessed as valuable players on the team. Coach Kelly attributed most of the team's success to daily practices of two to two and one-half hours. Practices were also held on weekends and holidays. In addition, the girls developed the ability to play with poise in pressure situations, many times coming from behind to make the clutch play when needed. The squad was undefeated in regular season play with a brilliant 13-0 record. Their elimination from the zone tournament in a heartbreaking loss to Basic came as a surprise to the entire league. JV spikers' season shows many talents This year’s junior varsity volleyball team, coached by Ms. Theresa Conerly. stressed endurance and agility during practice. The drills and exercises they learned by playing junior varsity volleyball will be a solid foundation for their varsity playing. Practice was held six days a week, for two and one-half hours a day. The strong players for Clark’s JV were Lissa McClure. Dottie Funston. Teresa Thomas. Jill Skanchy, Mildred Payne, and Renee Howard. The rest of the team consisted of Abbi Silver. Tammy Webster. Jackie Smith. Laura Hutzinger. Kathy Shiroky. Michelle Freeman. Sandy Lyons. Felicia Morris, and Lisa Singer. We were pretty strong this year since we had a lot of height and experience.
