The English department has certainly been doing its share. Airs. Bayles is a qualified first aid instructor. A night course in drafting and mapping takes most of Aliss Davis' evenings. Under abnormal conditions, Aliss Opacic is endeavoring to continue her normal activities. Report all injuries to Aliss Nassimbeni, a first aid instructor. Aliss Phillips has not only bought bonds, but also has been a blood donor twice. Air Raid Yvardens are on the alert in Bliss Trainor's first aid class. Aliss Yvilson sponsored a theme contest. The title was Organ- izing the XVorld For Peace. History instructors are bringing the war closer to their classes. Students enjoy studying the war in Bliss Babic's history class. Knitting and Red Cross work keeps Bliss Barclay on her toes. Airs. Dersam concentrates on the value of a just peace. Bliss hluse, although busily engaged in the war stamp drive at the barracks, aids the service men of her town as secretary of the Home Town Folks. A long list of current names and military terms appears on Aliss Stokes' blackboard, evidence of class discussions. hir. Dobbins, chairman of First Aid Instructors, informs his classes of the latest economic problems. Realizing the increasing importance of mathe- matics in the present conflict, the math depart- ment prepares our soldiers for future service. Air. Patton regularly buys his 'fshare of freedomf, Air. Soich's trigonometry students will be prepared for whatever the Army and Navy may give them. .Nliss Xvalker is busy in night school drafting and mapping courses. Physical fitness is stressed by the physical education instructors. A first aid instructor and three times a blood donor, Air. Hartman keeps the gridders in perfect physical condition. Hats off to .Nliss Hess, four times a blood donorl A Volunteer Fireman and an Air Raid Xvarden, Air. Stilley is prepared for any emer- gency. Swimming instructor Alr. Since our entry into the war, our recruits of Clairton Barracks have exerted a conscien- tious effort to make victory ours. The Cos conducted a weekly stamp drive of which Iohn Zora was the chairman. He reported that Room 206 had the highest weekly sales record- S-105.45. The Cos also featured afterschool swing sessions, charging a war stamp for ad- mission. Outstanding in the book drive was Ed Yvilliams of Room 105, who generously con- tributed over one hundred books. A scrap drive was organized to collect vital metals for future tanks and planes. The Cones collected silk and nylon stockings for parachutes. Blany of our privates and non-coms worked eight-hour shifts in the mill after school. They aided Uncle Sam in two ways: they helped to speed up war production and earned more money to buy war bonds and stamps. This year, again, students are graduating from Clairton Barracks. A new chapter will begin in their lives, different from that of Seniors of other years. The present is a time of world- wide confusion, turmoil and uncertainty, in such an atmosphere no definite personal plans for the future can be formed. But there exists a sincere pride and deep confidence in students of Clairton Barracks, that in a world at war, they will work, fight, and keep their wits. They will be found in distant parts of the globe, defending our rights, they will be found in mills and factories, sweating, yet happyg they will be found in the home, with anxiety in their hearts, yet with cheerful faces.
