Senior officers, President Carl Alderson, Vice-president Bud I-Iilmer, Secretary Norma Deane VValters, and Treasurer Ed Zemprelli were installed . . . SENIOR COUNCIL SPONSORED TI-IE FIRST DANCE, Fall Frolic, on November 14 with the Klairton Kadets 'swinging it out' . . . We want our rings echoed everywhere. They arrived in December . . . WAR: DE- CEMBER S, WAR WAS DECLARED! Every- one was excused early to hear the President's speech. Stretcher Bearers, organized under Dr. G. A. Calhoun, and school officials tested air raid drills . . . ALUMNI RETURNED FOR THE CHRISTMAS PARTY, one of the largest affairs of 1941 . . . jack McAtee enlisted in the Air Corps and Charles Cypher in the Marines . . . Mary Evanick and Tom Piazza edited the Clairtonian News in its second full year- as a paper . . . Mary Evanick also edited the Annual with Edward Zemprelli as Business Manager . . . In step with the Defense Movement, SENIOR COUNCIL CONTRIBUTED to the Hearst GRADS l Buy a Bomber Fund and part of the proceeds of the Senior Play, Sing a Song of Sixteen, was donated to the Red Cross . . . THE CLAIR- TONIAN AND THE CLAIRTON IAN NEWS STAFFS held a Blackout Party for subscribers on March 6 with the KLAIRTON KADETS swinging it . . . WINNERS: Glenn Finney and Bud Hilmer, tenor and baritone soloists, won the Southwestern District title. In the county con- test Howard Bayles placed third in the Oration and Gregory Monito placed first in the Decla- mation . . . ORCHIDSg to john Ruhl who sab- stituted in the quartet. at the Forensics at the last hour . . . Three bus loads of Seniors thrilled to the performance of Maurice Evans and Judith Anderson in Macbeth . .. ..TESTS: Seniors scurried to Miss Anna,O'Toole's room to take intelligence tests. ON APRIL 18, AMBITIOUS SENIORS took Civic Club Award Tests at Carnegie Tech and at the University of Pitts- burgh, and, on May 1, State Scholarships Exams . PROM: Couples swayed to the music of JIMMY GAMBLE'S ORCHESTRA at the an- nual Junior-Senior Prom on May first.. Showing their patriotism, girls wore hair decorations in- stead of elaborate corsages . . . AMERICANS ALL: DEFENSE COURSES offered new op- portunities to Seniors. One hundred four Seniors studied mechanical drawing, blue print reading, electricity, machines, and welding in order to be prepared for defense work . . . Graduating into the world of chaos, Seniors have not left altogether, for many enrolled and will return for Defense work. ADIOS!
