Jean was awarded second place in the state contest. Chosen most likely to succeed and to represent the class of 1945 in the Pepsi-Cola scholarship contest are Tomio Ito, Bill Stuart and Bill Sanford. Melvin Springer, Bill Stuart, John Paul, Colleen Moore, Jean Rost and Carmen Erquiaga have applied for the freshmen scholarships awarded by the University of Nevada. Standing: Donna Karren, Jean Rost, Bill Bright, Perhaps because they know they are going into a world that is neither bright nor carefree. the seniors this year have been willing to sit and take life easy and let the rest of the school worry about unimportant details. They were making plans for their Sadie Hawkins dance as the 1945 Lahontan went to press. Although hampered by the lack of sugar for the cakes they want to serve and by the shortage of lumber for proposed Skunk Hollow cottages, the seniors assured us their hop would top even the Frosh party. Quiet, genial Charlie York has been session room teacher for the graduates. Although he's had some difficulty in selling stamps and bonds, he's always finally won 100 per cent cooperation from all the 1945 seniors. 194 Q05 . . E' l 6.25 Carl Davis Floyd Davis Carmen Erqui Francis Farley Elma Faupel Wilma Faupel A small percent of the members of our class who entered high school in the fall of 1941 and in January, 1942 are graduating with us. Many of the boys have entered the armed services, many of the girls have married, and a few students have moved. Bob Johnson finished high school at mid- term, as did Willa Hettinger. Harry Pardick went to the army while he was our class president last year. Members of our last year's junior class now in the service are: Reno Ratti, John Robertson, Albert Madsen. Many of the members of the class will enter the armed services in June.
