Alpha lambda, we re told is an honorary English organivation, but if anybody had asked us. we d say it was a group of gay ladies who met twice each month to eat The meetings we are sorry to say tend morc toward food than toward literary works. The traditional Alpha Lambda Thanksgiving progressive dinner and the Christmas dance were high lights of the first semester activities with Dorothea Cress in charge. Sec- ond semester, with Emma Lu Winder presiding, the girls entertained their new members at a formal dinner. Next, they held a bean feed to devour the beans from the bean jar on which we all bought tickets. Then, their consciences bothering, they entertained their mothers at a breakfast. In between times, they just met for simple little suppers. To the rest of us it seems strange that all Alpha Lambda mothers are wonderful, generous cooks who delight in feeding their daughters' smart little friends. Maybe there is something in this business of getting A credits.
