HIGH SOPHOMORE We were sadly handicapped our freshman year because through no fault of our own, word has been circulated around high school that we were what the faculty hopefully refers to as a good class. Gradually but surely we're living down that frightening reputation. So We might concentrate on our lessons, the powers that be decided to separate our session. Mrs. Wallace won the girls, while Mr. Requa fell heir to us boys. At first we carried on our flirtations through the window connecting the two session rooms, but Mrs. Wallace put a stop to that by heartlessly hanging a huge calendar to block our view. One reason we all look so happy in our picture is that picture taking day was the first time we'd seen some of our favorite sophomore girls since freshman days. The first party I've ever attended where I had all the ice cream I wanted, we heard one senior say wistfully as he was leaving our class party. Everyone else had a good time, too. Soon after our party, our class president, Harry Pardick, left to join the Navy. Where we'll find another man as good as he we don't know.. Vice-president Bill Longwill has carried on for us. Our classmates earned four football and four basketball letters. Surely we're the class to watch next year.

LOW OPHOMORE We didn't come into our own until Friday, April 14. On that afternoon, while the other high school students strug- gled with nouns and theorems, we left school and went for a jeep ride to inspect the new airport. To earn the ride and holiday, we sold more bonds and stamps than any other class. The seniors watched us leave, and we democratically waved goodbye to them. We were amazed ourselves when we remem- bered a very short year ago we'd been low freshmen. Miss Fletcher kept us busy during sessions, has prodded us on to remarkable achievements. When we've com- pleted our daily assignments-lessons always come first with us, of course-we discuss whether we'll graduate in three and a half years or stick around for four and a half. When we think of our true worth to the school, we've almost decided to please the faculty by staying as long as we can. The cold hand of the draft board hasn't snatched any of us yet, but next year may be a different tale. True, we haven't too many names on the A honor list, nor have we won any Block F's, but we think if we take things slow and easy-like this year, by next fall we shall be ready to assume our true place as the leaders of the school.
