When they came tripping home from the festival with a one rating tucked into their pock- ets, we realized they must be good. With twenty-eight voices of good, wholesome quality, they really make the music colors blend. We must know, however, that before a glee club becomes good enough to rate one it goes through innumerable stages that aren't good. The girls labored on songs to make them sound unlabored, they worked on passages to make them sound light and carefree. But this year's practice has not gone unrewarded, for we have a club that's fit to be tied. Mr. Telecky was ambitious for the girls. and the girls were ambitious for themselves, so among the thirty of them- we include the pianist-they aimed high, and got what they aimed at. Dressed in Fallon High green flannel skirts, white blouses and white Oxfords, the group has excellent stage presence-so say the critics. A part of their charm is certain- ly due to their naturalness. We've often wondered when these girls eat, as they practice noons from twelve un- til-until they've perfected whatever song they're working on. Amazing as it seems, during this practice time these giggling girls do not giggle-they don't even look happy. They work. There are no cuts and very few absences from practice. We can't mention the glee club without thinking of their ever faithful pianist, Jean Bailey. She never fails. We can remember-even in the brief span of our own high school life--when the girls' glee club consisted of a dozen or so girls who sang for graduation, and then were silent for another year. This year's energetic, successful crew spells progress. -gg-
