Thais takes over duhef m January latin- -ana! Briant An old Alpha Lambda member tried to tell lily people that the pretty, peppy gals rooting for the Fallon team at the state tournament were members of an honorary Eng- lish society. The Ely people laughed-they thought they knew honor students didn't get around like that. And that's where they we1'e wrong-the most active girls in the high school belong to Alpha Lambda. Didn't they do what everybody said was impossible-go to the Vegas game? And in spite ot' snow and little money. didn't they get to the lily tournament '? Driving force ot' Alpha l.amb- da for the past five years has been Helen Coverston Bol- rira. When she left at midyear, liois Hutchinson took over the sponsorship of the group. The group made its public appearance for the vear when members held a silver tea at the Artemisia hall to laise money for the Ely jaunt. Townspeople enjoyed dig- ging into their pockets, they said. The girls said Good- bye to Helen Coverston at a kitchen shower and tea at Anne Gibbs' home. They said t'Hello to Iiois Hutchinson at a Valentine party at Dudie Youngs President first semester was Bernoline Grinnell: see- ond semester Thais Sherman Initiation tirst semester included a IICIQ in a police wagon foi the initiate, second semestei s 1n1t1at1on w as slightlx calmei High Nt2ll'lCldlflS toi Tl1l'YT1li0lSi1lIJ a combination ot good tun and gool sensc th it s the -Xlpha I ambda ue o E 0 I v .f . . . . . -.
