'7 9 Netter .Season Strengthens Spirit Of Younger Teams Our season wasnt the greatest, but the fun we had made up for the lack of wins. -freshman Stephanie Allson We had a,hard time getting ir toe gether. -JV co-captain, sophomore Peggy McKinley 'Eat the worm! -freshman Carla Palmer Next year we 'll have to work harder on skill, teamplay, and spirit. l was pleased to see the enthusiasm from the student body. JV Coach Kathy Maloney 'limackl freshman Hannah Kirk l feel there are eleven freshman that in the coming years will provide CH5 with very successful teams. -freshmen Coach Kerry Keeffe The moon is yellow! -freshman Peggy White A total of twenty-four girls ended the JV and freshmen volleyball seasons, marking the largest group that ever tried out ar CHS. Dimond was the toughest opponent for both teams, accorcfng to Coaches Kathy Maloney and Kerry Keeffe. They were the only team the freshmen cldn 't defeat at least once in their six win, nine loss sea' son. The JV reams only victory came against Bartlett. Their skill and knowledge came together, stated Coach Maloney, There were girls on both teams that had never played volleyball before. Along with the teams' lack of experience, the hardest thing was 'learning to become win- nets, commented the coaches. Awards were presented at a banquet held at the end of the season. For the freshmen, Juli Benotti and Karen Hodel were chosen as the most improved players, and Angie Daniek, the most inspirational. Dawn Kissee was the most improved JV playen Chris Foster, the most rowdy, and Kim Henry, the most valuable, Freshman Peggy White sets the ball as Mary Knapper, Kati King, Peggy McKinley and Sharon Call watch the play.
