X ,f vu We senifors have known all year that May would come too soon. Now ,niemories flood back to us in swift succession-the mad rush of finding our little sisters and their baggage, Worried frowns over our schedules, junior talent at the Pajama Party, the excited buzz of the halls before the dances, Todd's orchestra at the Halloween jam session, and the snifiles at the Christ- mas banquet. Then with perhaps a hesitant sigh, we started the second semester. Time has flown faster and faster from cherry pie on Washington's birthday to post cards from Havana, the election of the May Queen, and current heart beats for the exclusive senior prom, sunbaths on the roof, the spring formal, and then-graduation. lt's hard to say good-bye to these college experiences and most of all to the friends We've made. But because progress is the law of life we move on-a little wiser, a little more mature. To you, juniors, we look to uphold the honor, the traditions, and the glory of Christian. The whole spectacular year seemed only a series of lasting memories to those progressive juniors who made every minute count. The glamor of the junior banquet, the beautiful class song written by Dorothy Walters and Dorothy Hogue, the exciting hockey and basketball games, the colorful pep squad, the all-junior all-star basketball team, the Halloween Queen, the Health Queen, the spring trip, love, the impressive quiet campus, commencement, our own lovely May Queen, the ivy chain, the sad ending of our first year of college. Each junior was an intricate part of C. C. and each felt that intangible loyalty and devotion 'known only to a Christian girl. Page 44 .K a th erine H oyster JEAN AnnlsoN . Illlllll St. Cecilia is open to all girls who are interested in music and is spon- sored by the instructors of the Music Conservatory. Since 1924 this club has been very active and has proved valuable in promoting musical activity in the college. The club was named after Cecilia, whom the Romans con- sidered the patron saint of music. The programs for the year were based on the development of music in America. The president, Mary Ella Herblin, gave interesting talks on the various types of music here in the United States. Before the Christmas holidays St. Cecilia presented a program in the auditorium of Christmas selections after which the student body sang carols. The officers of the club are Mary Ella Herblin, presidentg Mary Louise Wallcer, vice-presidentg Mary Jac Barbee, secretaryg and Dorothy Walters, treasurer. The Work done provides the students with one credit a semester. l At Christmas time the group sang at the Christian Church during the morning service hour. At the time of the National Convention of Junior Colleges held in Columbia, the Choral Club represented Christian College in a program given in our auditorium March 1. A beautiful spring concert was enjoyed late in April. The Choral also furnishes music for the commencement exercises. The sacred numbers sung on baccalaureate evening are always exquisite. Pg67 THIH The Junior Girl's Trio composed of Jane Hines, Cherry Frost, and Frances Fitzgibbons was a very popular singing group this year. Besides providing music for the dining room on special occasions, the girls sang at the Pet Show, the Varieties, and numerous places in Columbia. The Trio favored popular songs and semi-classical numbersg they were ably advised by Mrs. Nick Cave. A Under the direction of Mrs. Helen Myers Kellogg, the Christian College Orchestra distinguished itself on several student recitals. It is SEXTETT llllllllll E composed of twenty-six girls, all students of Christian. They also play the processional at the commencement pageant. The Double Sextette is chosen annually by Miss Geneva Youngs, direc- tor. It is one of the most popular organizations on our campus and has provided music for many Columbia organizations. At the annual Christmas Bazaar, the Art Club contributed many products of their skilled workmanship, .including wooden boxes, buttons, bookends, bracelets, rings, and trays attractively painted and decorated by the members. The purpose of this organization is primarily to promote an interest in what is best in painting and sculpturing by round-table discussions. The club attended many exhibits given by the Art Lovers Guild of the University. The officers this year were Katherine Royster, Presidentg Betty McCru1n, Vice-Presidentg and Josephine Royster, Secretary-Treasurer. Page 75 Membership in the Lineage Club is limited to those girls whose relatives have attended Christian College in previous years. The aim of this or- ganization is to perpetuate the 'traditions of the college, linking the old with the new. Officers are selected from those members who have had the most relatives in Christian since it was founded. But when a contract is awarded to Midland, the printer's real effort does not begin until afler the contract is signed. Midland always thinks of the future. The one best way to sell future staffs is to treat the present staff Well. The only way to treat an annual staff well is to give hammer-and-tongs service, and to deliver thoroughbred quality.
