DEC Distributive Education Clubs of America offered students a chance to experience the business World by placing them in job situations. DECA Advisor Ms. Bobbie Welch and officers Glenn Petry CPresidentJ, Alan Wilson Nice Presidentl, Lori Anderson CSecretaryJ, and Rachele Austin Cllreasurerl organized fun- draisers such as the sale of candy, ba- gels, key chains, calendars and sung- lasses. A canned food drive was spon- sored by DECA in November to support the Community Food Bank. The 87.00 club fee helped pay for entrance into State and District con- ferences. Special recognition Was giv- en to DECA members Who attended the Flagstaff and Foothill Mall con- ferences. Students Helping AW' thers Pals are students trained to listen to other peers and to help them help themselves. Peers and Listening Stu- dents QPALSJ is a new club. The group originated during second se- mester of last year with Advisor Ms. Tammy Butler. The purpose was to provide the students with someone their own age and grade level whom they feel comfortable talking to other than adult counselors and adminis- trators. First year Advisor Mrs. Jeri Lucas stated, I donlt know what we would do without them. Photos by - Dennis Nasta. Prom Plans for Sheraton The Prom Committee's goals were to raise 551,000 to have a nice prom and keep expenses low. The committee discussed fundraisers such as the car wash held at Burger King on St.Mary's and the freeway, and on- campus candy sale. Advisor Mrs. Judy Long held meetings every Tuesday after school in the Math Pod. Officers included Chairman - Grace Zepeda and Co-Chairman - Yvonne Green. The Prom was set for May 25th at the Sheraton El Conquis- tador Resort Hotel with costs running about 3525-40 per couple. The D.J. hired played a variety of songs to sat- isfy many different musical tastes. By Kim Affolder -
