Principal's secretary Sandy Ri- back has worked with Cholla since 1980 and believed that the faculty, staff and community could standup along with the Best and be Count- ed. Mrs. Ribacks responsibilities in- volved filling the needs of her supervi- sor, helping to educate and aid the young men and Women who make up the Cholla community, and trying to keep up with her daily work. Her sec- retarial job demands were high, espe- cially with the millions of daily inter- ruptions. She enjoyed camping, doing needlecrafts, or just resting in her spare time. Ms. Terri Richards, records clerk, has worked at Cholla since it opened in September of 1969. Mrs. Richards was often called upon to send out transcripts, make student schedule changes in the computer, completed printout materials from Data Processing and made grade changes on students' permanent re- cord cards. ffice Aides and ecretaries Mrs. Yvonne Castro was the Math departments aide. She has been working at Cholla for seven years. Some of her job responsibilities were being the key oper- ator for the Xerox machine, grading pa- pers, and running the math office. Her work hours were from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Mrs. Castro has also worked with emotional handicapped and gate chil- dren at Rose and Carillo School. Mrs. Rori Pino was the science and language arts aide. She has been working in the testing room, checking out books, and taking inventory. Her work hours were from 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Mrs. Pino worked well with students and stat- ed that she liked everything about Cholla. Some of Mrs. Pino's hobbies are sewing, reading, and baking. Mrs. Shirley Zempel was the lan- guage art's aide and enjoyed helping oth- ers. She has been working at Cholla for about a year and a half. Mrs. Zempel likes working with young adults because she is very impressed with their man- ners, behavior, and vitality. Some of her job responsibilities were answering tele- phones, giving messages, decorating bul- letin boards, helping teachers, and run- ning off ditto materials. Her work hours were from 7:15 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Mrs. Zempel felt that the students were very polite and well behaved and that's what made her job most pleasant. Mrs. Zem- pel has worked at Pueblo, Palo Verde, Gridley, Tully, Manzo, Davis, Brichta, Roosevelt, and Drachman. - By Diane Alameda Zn Workaholic Treatment Center Ms. Cherry Sphar and Mari- cela Hernandez attendance re- sponsibilities included typing, an- swering telephones, greeting and helping people at the front window, working the computer, typing reports, and checking addresses to assure they are living in Cholla area. The hardest part of their jobs were keeping track in the weekly changes in student in- formation. Ms. Connie Lopez, secretary for Assistant Principal of Instruction - Sara Cortez and the counselors, has worked at Cholla for the past 4 years. Her secretarial responsibilities in- cluded typing, filing, shorthand, and answering telephones. Mrs. Lopez ran the office smoothly and efficiently whenever possible. In her free time she liked eating, playing tennis, tak- ing walks, and raising her children during the past twenty-four years in Tucson. Mrs. Charlotte Speer secretary to Special Education Chairperson Ms. P.K. Dolgaard, and receptionist for the counselors, began working here this fall. Her responsibilities were keeping records, typing, filing, and storing and transfering student re- cords. Learning the procedures for her job with the Special Education De- partment kept her busy, but in her spare time she sewed, worked in the yard, and also taught Sunday School. Assistant Principal's secretary Mrs. Vi Morales worked with Mr. Robert Bailes taking care of all office activities and answering parents' questions. Mrs. Morales has worked here for 8 years, and thinks Cholla is the Greatest, when she was not work- ing, she was either reading or embroi- dering. Meeting New People Mr. Bladimir Soza, the Home- Visitor, wanted to work more closely with the students and be like a father to them. Mr. Soza stated, I hope the students come to me not only as a home visitor, but as a friend to them. Also I like to be out in the field, meet with parents of students. Working with them as much as I can. The main purpose of his job was to check students' school behavior between Pueblo, Tucson and Cholla High School. He also called parents con- cerning their son or daughters' ab- sences. When asked how he felt about the new attendance tardy policy he stated, They are better than where I was Working. Mr. Soza was born in Bisbee Arizona. He has lived in Tuc- son for 52 years and attended the schools in Tucson. He spends his free time playing pool, swimming, softball and basketball. - By Grace Granillo Mrs. Phyllis Pesqueira, school nurse, has always been there to help when needed for over 5 years. She stated, I enjoy working with the ado- lescent group of children - they have special needs and they are special peo- ple. Her hours are from 7:15 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The types of emergencies she sees daily are lacerations, foreign objects in eyes and fractures. Mrs. Pesqueira has 17 years of experience as a nurse. She has worked in Pima County Hospital on the medical floor, ICU, medical surgery and the emer- gency room, University Hospital in the area of labor and deliveryg Kino Community Hospital in the area of Education Coordinator. Mrs. Pes- queira spends her free time playing golf and raising children. She has a piece of advice for everyone. Enjoy your youth, stay off drugs and stay healthy.
