Counselors Mr. Sid Morgan, the freshman class counselor, chose to be a high school counselor because he felt he could do more with a stable population where people were ready to learn to change and to grow. He has been a counselor for 14V2 years but wanted to be an accountant, a social worker and an employment inter- viewer, and finally a counselor. His main goal at Cholla was to work with the stu- dents as they progressed through high school and to plan what they do after graduation. He spoke to approximately 12 to 15 students on an average day and on other days he spoke to up to 4 classes. Mr. Morgen would talk to students about anything that they felt was impor- tant, but mostly to help them make the most of their skills and their potential for growth. The subjects most often talked about when she would speak to students were require- ments for graduation, peer pressure, family problems, the importance of attending class, and whatever else was of importance to them. When asked if there was some special reason why she chose to become a high school coun- selor she replied I love working with teenagers! Some of Mrs. Lucasis spare time activities were local and state church work, bowling, playing the piano, shopping, and eating out! She sees approximately 30 students on an average day, but when she speaks to classes she sees many more.
