Var ity had a uper Season The Varsity Basketball team, led by six foot seven inch forward Sean Elliot, accomplished a perfect record of 12-0 in League play and 20-2 over- all. There were six returning players and seven newcomers to the squad. Seasonal highlights included taking lst place in the T.U.S.D. Holiday Tournament, clinching the South League title, Sean Elliot being select- ed for the McDonald's High School All-American Basketball Squad, and winning the Southern Division Cham- pionship. This was the first time that the Chargers had ever won Divisionals in basketball. Additional achievements included Sean Elliot, the AAA South's leading scorer who averaged 32 points per game and set a school record by scor- ing 48 points against Saguaro. The team also broke the school record for regular season wins 1205, and with the Divisional Championship win, broke the overall season wins with 23. The Chargers were in the Statels Top Ten rankings every week of the season and reached as high as number two. Game highlights consisted of tremendous hustle, great teamwork, and spectacu- lar slam dunks.
