The 15 players consisted of three sen- iors CRudy Corral, Tony Sherman, and'f2Mike Cordovaj-10 juniors fJay Lopez, Mike Besecker, Robert Spyers, Mike Jennings, Andy Obergon, David Yebra, John Ramirez, Damon Balles- teros, Frank Leyva, and Alfred Al- verezj one sophomore CMarvin Lin- sonl and one freshman CScott Erwinb. The team's key players were Jay Lopez, stopper, David Yebra, sweep- erg Rudy Corral, forward, Damon Bal- lesteros, Midfielderg and John Ra- mierz, goalie. Team members said that it was great to play on the first varsity soccer team at Cholla. Senior Rudy Corral, forward, was picked for the 1985 All-League Soccer Team. Honorable memtions were defender Jay Lopez and defender Damon Bal- lesteros. By Kim Keeton This was a young, new team. Not- just league wise, but in experience too. The teamis strong points were the members attitudes, resistance, coo- peration, and enthusiasm. The team members learned to real- istically view a situation and look for a solution. Their weaknesses were their lack of experience, skill, and depth. Soccer is a rigorous sport which re- quires peak conditioning and a strong bench. Key players were those who had ex- perience such as Goalie Rachel Seenz, Rosie Garcia, Trina Contreras, and Elisa Guerrero. Rosie Garcia was de- scribed as a player who had the tenac- ity to work and Trina Contreras was said to have strong forward skills with a strong defense. The team members should be con- gratulated for accomplishing the dif- ficult task of finishing the season when they had to struggle all season to make a team of ll. They learned not to quit and to face judgement. They also learned to do their best and to have fun too. Team players not pictured were: Viki Altamirano, Rene Seguro, and Bonnie Cooper.
