Mr. Neil Fishler decided to become a Band Director because he likes work- ing with students and has been teaching band for three years. He previously taught at Catalina, and The University of Arizona. The music performed this year was a selection from the musical The West Side Story. The titles were, TONIGHT, MARIA, MAMBO SOME- WHERE and AMERICA. Each student practiced five days a week during school and three hours a night once a Week. Drum Majors Lori Anderson fSeniorJ and CJuniorJ Andy Obregon assisted Mr. Fishler. The band received an Excel- lent rating on Band Day at The Universi- ty of Arizona on November 3rd, 1984. Cheerleaders Mrs. Benitez The fifteen member varsity cheer- leading squad consisted of both cheer- leaders and songleaders. They did a great job of cheering and brought lots of spirit to the games. Even when we lost they were still very supportive, commented Senior Myles Mace varsi- ty football player. The girls had practice during the summer and they participated in a pizza night where they worked as waitresses to raise money and they were in a walkathon. They also had 1 Cheerleaders practice everyday after school in the gym before and during football sea- son. First year advisor Mrs. Benitez did a great job in getting the girls or- ganized and enforcing discipline. Thank you again cheerleaders and songleaders for helping to bring spirit to the games!
